For Those Who Will Buy Windows Vista

http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1895,1843945,00.asp
After finding (...also after being too lazy to look it up) an article on eWeek about how the new WindowsVS (Vista) will need DirectX 9 and some more stuff, this makes me wonder:
Should I buy a new PC (if I can afford it)?

After reading some of the minimum ewquirments, I think I shouldn't. At best, an upgrade of my current PC would probably be better (graphics card and memory... oh and I am currently on a Celron Processer by the way). When WindowsVS finally comes out... in 2007... I will be able to get the 1500 dollar computer to do what I want to do. Heck, maybe I'll get a Alienware instead of a Dell (I am sure Dell would love me for that... not to worry, I'm getting a Dell Laptop with Wi-Fi in the next year or so).

At least with an Alienware PC I don't have to worry about the computer not being able to do something. since I'll be running my Object Desktop stuff, playing around with games, There.com (a 3D world of people), trying to get into 3D Studio MAX and back into AutoCAD (used to do it back in the Architecture school days), and web development... yeah, Alienware is going to get my money when Windows Vista comes out.

So what are you guys going to do? And what do you think all the companies out there will do when Windows VS comes out? Slow upgrade the whole system?

(This is the main reason why I think Microsoft should actually include WinFS and wait until 2008 or even 2009 when it is really time to re-invest in the IT structure. They are too afraid that people will switch to Mac or Linux??? I think Microsoft can hold on to its customers for another 3 years or so).

Vista will only need DirectX 9 if you need to run it with all the features on. DirectX9 being spesificly to Aero. Vista will downscale according to what your system is capable of. (Mind I don't mean it will run on a 486.) But Vista is designed to take advantage of future hardware to come and it'll probably be sold more Windows Vista because it comes with new systems than beeing bought stand alone.
I allready got one computer that should be able to handle Vista an I'll keep it. But I will buy Vista when it's released.

Your should stop thinking in such ways, and NEVER use Vista. If you start using Vista, you start supporting TCPA. Stop it now!!!

My computer can handle Vista with no problem. Although by the time it comes out it will be time to upgrade my video card anyways.

DUH, what is TCPA? Or is this just leading to another MS bash.

I'll probably get Vista after I get a Vista-era Graphics card. My radeon 9200 is starting to show it's age, but I'd rather not buy one now and find out that it still can't do Aero Glass.

Since user ID shows germany, I'm guessing it's not Texas Crime Prevention Association (but we do get a lot of tourists) but has something to do with this:

I think I'll wait until it comes out and get a computer with WindowsVS installed already.

Its definaitly going to be an Alienware computer... now it someone can give me 2500 dollars... WAHT1!! You say I have to work for it??

I'll work for my Dell Laptop with wireless internet... I get a discount cause I work for UPS.

I guess the next question will be if my laptop will run WindowsVS

(Saying Windows VS is part of my campaign to make the new name for Longhorn more attractive. Hopefully Microsoft will pick it up... for a small fee of course. I accept PayPal only)

I'm not going to upgrade. I see no need to as XP gets the job done. I wouldn't buy a Dell or Alienware either. I like to save money buy building my own rigs.
