Thanks, ID, but you know Kona won't be able to resist posting his thoughts on FF.

Hi in advance Kona

I still haven't gotten an answer to a FF question.
In the pre-1.0 releases it was strongly stressed to uninstall previous builds. Now you can just install over top of the previous install. Why is the uninstall no longer necessary? (not that I'm complaining)

Fixed in Firefox 1.0.5
MFSA 2005-56 Code execution through shared function objects
MFSA 2005-55 XHTML node spoofing
MFSA 2005-54 Javascript prompt origin spoofing
MFSA 2005-53 Standalone applications can run arbitrary code through the browser
MFSA 2005-52 Same origin violation: frame calling top.focus()
MFSA 2005-51 The return of frame-injection spoofing
MFSA 2005-50 Possibly exploitable crash in InstallVersion.compareTo()
MFSA 2005-49 Script injection from Firefox sidebar panel using data:
MFSA 2005-48 Same-origin violation with InstallTrigger callback
MFSA 2005-47 Code execution via "Set as Wallpaper"
MFSA 2005-46 XBL scripts ran even when Javascript disabled
MFSA 2005-45 Content-generated event vulnerabilities

While I, and I'm sure many others, applaud them for fixing these issues, this kind of list for IE would get Microsoft slaughtered in the court of public opinion.

I'm just sayin'.

No worries. I'm not going to say anything about Firefox other than IE 7 is coming.

Strangely enough, it [ver. 1.0.5] doesn't show up when I check for updates under the advanced part in the options dialogue, even though I havetold it to check for updates to Firefox. Has anyone else noticed this?

I believe they often stagger the method of release to help reduce the strain on the servers.

I heard IE7 will have groundbreaking technology such as tabbed browsing and RSS feeds.

I hope you won't need SP2 installed to use it.

I'm pretty sure it will only be available for SP2.

Thanks, Bichur. It was late last night and I didn't read down that far. If I have any trouble I'll uninstall and reinstall. Too worn out from playing Notepad Invaders.

There are always ways to work around such problems. I have updates installed that require SP2 yet I don't have SP2.

They should look into BitTorrent, as Opera developers have.

You can always download Firefox manually. http://download.mozilla.org/?product=firefox-1.0.5&os=win&lang=en-US (US version)
