"My Music" icon won't change

When using icon packager, the "my music" icon in my start menu doesn't change. Every other icon changes perfectly but this one. I've tried changing it individually with no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.

you got any old country (slim whitman, etc) in that folder? that could cause a resistance to change.

Is it just the start menu icon, does it change in Explorer? If you have show hidden files selected you may have deleted the desktop.ini for my music. If your OS is windows XP and .ini is missing copy and paste the following into a text document and name it desktop.ini.

[DeleteOnCopy]
Owner= ( add your name or owner name here, you can check .ini in my pictures to get proper name )

InfoTip=@Shell32.dll,-12689

It changes in explorer. I don't have hidden files selected. I am using XP home. I'm afraid I don't know what you mean by " copy & paste into a text document and name it desktop.ini" I can copy and paste....but the rest, I need more detailed instruction. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

after copy and paste
save it , then right click on it and rename it.

or create a new text doc and name it desktop.ini before copy/paste

or after copy/paste - file/save as - name desktop.ini

It's still unclear to me what to do. Here's where I am now: I've right clicked on the desktop....selected "new" then "text document". I then renamed the notepad document "desktop.ini"

I then copy & pasted........... "[DeleteOnCopy]

It's now sitting on my desktop. Where do I go from here? I'm guessing this document has to be moved somewhere. Where....I haven't a clue. I'm pretty new to computers so please walk me thru what comes next, as you would a newbie. Thanks again for working with me. It's only one icon....but it's driving me mad. LOL.

Here is a basic idea.

Have you tried the following:

- Start IconPackager
- Go to "Tools > Retore all Icons > click "Yes" > click "OK", then wait about 30 seconds

- Start IconPackager
- Go to "Tools > Rebuild Icon Cache > click "Yes" > click "OK", then wait about 30 seconds

- Start IconPackager
- Go to "Tools > Repair Icon Images > click "Yes" > click "OK", then wait about 30 seconds

- Start IconPackager
- Go to "Tools > Repair Shell Icons > click "Yes" > computer will reboot

Now, right-click the taskbar > Properties > Start menu tab > Customize button > Advanced tab > find "My Music" in the Start Menu Items list, and make sure "Display as a link" is selected > click "OK" > click "Apply"

Start Icon Packager > select Icon-A-Day package in list > click "Apply" > wait about 30 seconds > check My Music folder for change in start menu.

Note - this is assuming you have IconPackager version 3 installed (Icon-A-Day package is designed for this version and may not work correctly with version 2.x).

Note 2 - If you do not see the "Restore Shell Icons" option under tools (last in list), then you are not running IconPackager version 3.

This is just basic troubleshooting to restore icons to default settings including the My Music listing in the Start Menu, to give you a clean shot at applying the package.

I hope this helps in some way.

kjhyfbds Sorry if I got you confused, I should have waited for your response about Explorer, if it is changing there the desktop.ini is ok. Try Corky's suggestion and post back if does not fix.

I took Corky's advice and it worked. Thank you to everyone who helped me solve this. Happy 4th of July to all.
