Burn Me Down

burn me down

It was the frayed rope that bound my hands,

behind my back,

that tightened to leave my wrists bleeding,

with the same pulse of the crowds' cheering,

the very same around my ankles,

my back bare to find where my spine met a wooden pole,

the last one that would hold me,

below wood stacked beneath my feet dripping with my blood,

which has always made for good fuel,

my blood,

the first and last thing I ever owned,

the blood that worked for them all through me,

I knew whose grave I had dug that morning,

of last week,

at least it was my own,

twelve feet deep,

they knew six wouldn't hold me.

The match was struck,

the flames hit the faces of the gathered,

who had come to see a piece of themselves turned to ash,

and I lit up like a southern black steeple,

and I screamed out,

but not for forgiveness,

or a sudden repentance I had found in the flames,

I screamed out,

"you can set me ablaze,

but you can never burn me down."

Hey Rat and Nicki, I don't know why JU doesn't send me alerts anymore when people comment on my stuff. So I just have to wander back here every now and then and see if there were any bites on my line. I've grown pretty tired of the banter on JU, but once I finally put everything in its place in this new apartment I hope to post more action here...even if the fish aren't biting. You two are keepers though, that's for sure.

Peace,
suspeckted

PS - Rat July 16th homey...keep that open.

What is July 16th? True that the banter sucks, So i decided to start only writing about drinking as of today. I am making myself the Joeuser drunk! Let me know about the 16th though for real. -Rat

These sound like rock lyrics! Imagine it set to, like, an "Alice in Chains" rythm....that would rock my house boat!!!

"""""twelve feet deep,

they knew six wouldn't hold me."""""

That's, like, the hottest thing I've ever heard.  If some rock singer said those words, I would worship his ass.

Very nice line there, I might have to steal that.

Yeah, I know it kind of has that tone...however, Alice in Chains really started to bug me....so whiny. How about Phil Anselo from Pantera or something like that?

Thanks Trin
