Corruption

Where does ObjectDock store its data? I experienced OD corruption in a crash, with Object Dock displaying only a small segment of its length, including no applications.I don't know what to look for in my disk backup to restore it.

srdiamond,

Program directory = "C:\Program Files\Stardock\ObjectDock" (where "C" is the letter drive). This is where all files are stored except the cache.

Cache folder can be found in "C:\Documents and Settings\"user account"\Local Settings\Application Data\Stardock" folder (where "C" is the letter drive, and "user account" is the name on account when logged in).

Note - if you can't see the "Local Settings" folder, open "My Computer" and go to "Tools > Folder Options > View tab", then select "Show hidden files and folders" > click "Apply".

I hope this helps.

Would it be possible to add a feature to allow us to save/restore the dock when corruption occurs (make it more user friendly)? I haven't had the corruption occur for a while, but it happened last night. I understand things get wonky, but it would help when that occurs to restore things to the status quo.

thoughts?

Use the "Save theme as" function.

In the case of clearing cache, you could streamline the process by doing the following:

Create a shortcut to the Stardock folder in the Local Settings address listed in comment #1 somewhere in say "My Documents" when the folder is visible, then you would have quick access to clear the cache - even if you have the folder hidden.

You could also save your theme, then copy the theme ".ini" file to another location - or burn to disc.

Just a couple thoughts.
