ObjectDock dvd player problem

blank screen

I've found a problem and traced it back to ObjectDock

Using a couple of different dvd progs, PowerDVD and WinDVD. on playing a dvd, the window shows no picture but if you open any other window i.e "my computer". The picture shows through the white area of the window on top! Minimising the dvd window has no effect and still leaves the picture showing through other windows!

Shutting down ObjectDock and restarting the dvd prog seems to cure it.

are there any fixes for this since i've got used to my pop out bar and don't wanna see it go...

Cheers

It happens on some systems. Seems to depend on your graphics adapter hardware/driver version & combination. Something to do with how well your graphics system handles 'layering' IIRC.

Some people get black DVD windows, others get OD flickering while playing video. With so many widely varying symptoms, I guess it's a hard one to track down.

I work around the issue by not having any docks on the top or left edges of the monitor. Bottom and right edges in any combination, size, or amount work best for me. Docks in the top left corner (i.e., position:top/alignment:left or position:left/alignment top) seem to guarantee the conflict. Otherwise, turning off any OD magnification and keeping the docks small increases the odds of a dock on the top or left working with video software.

For more discussion and other ideas please see threads in this forum “PowerDVD and OD+” and “TV-Application don’t works…” which I have bumped up for you and should now be immediately below this thread.
