11 years of hell
but then again,
I've never been to heaven,
and I stopped believing in hell when I turned eleven,
surely that's a guaranteed one way ticket straight the fiery basement,
but for now all that will be allowed is my feet carrying me atop the pavement,
Hell may be in my future but I have no crystal ball,
is it not what we believe but what we do that will save us all?
I had a savior, but I no longer feel threatened,
how many times do we need to be retaught the same lessons,
are we that forgetful,
or that careless with our knowledge,
should we go to the mall for a lava lamp, a few notebooks, pick a filthy lazy-ass roommate and head back to college?
Have fun,
but I'll be stayin' right here,
call me when you get there,
or don't,
and be ever so thankful that when the Earth is once again flooded in the holy water I'll sink and you'll float,
how were you to know that my savior taught me how to swim,
and I'm doggy-paddlin' all the way to the promised land,
that I was never promised,
but I'm sure a verbal contract will hold up in heavenly court,
an incompetent angel appointed to defend me because I can't afford all my burdens,
no verdict reached,
cause the jury couldn't figure it out,
it simply made no sense,
sinners drown,
and the saved float,
as if they'd never seen anyone swim before,
so it was thrown out of court and my angel won her first case ever,
and I was never cast into the lake ot fire and brimstone,
but if even if I was,
I wouldn't sink,
and I sure as hell wouldn't float,
because as sure as I am the hell doesn't exist,
it did in my life for eleven years,
and that's a long enough for anyone to endure.
