Controlling Enemy Ships for Fun and Profit!

Trigger The Exodus!

I don't know how long this bug has been here, I actually just noticed it today. If you find an enemy planet that has a ship garrisoned at it (has the shield icon), you can launch that ship into space! This is especially fun if the enemy ships are colony ships. I took one planet by emptying out its entire population onto ships and then sending in a transport with a small handful of troops.

Also, you can control any ship you see on the map, or go in and modify their planetary build queue (MikeC found he could build his design ships at enemy space ports).

Seems right now the AI automatically hands over control to a player any resources planets or ships it may have for control. They don't switch to your side and you cant use them as forward production bases really, but you can tell them exactly what to do.

Next game I'm going to get the Altarians to declare war on the Yor

Sounds like a tool the Stardock developers used in GC1 that they occasionally forgot to remove when putting a new load out for us.

I also was able to prevent an enemy ship from moving by keeping it selected. I felt so powerful! I could control the entire galaxy through the other empires! I can almost hear the paniced conversations in the offices of various galactic leaders...

"What do you mean the entire population of our whole empire just blasted off into space?!!?"
"It appears they all had some strange urge to take an intergalactic vacation.. I hear the beaches on Korbal Minor are beautiful this time of year..."
"But... EVERYONE left. All that's left is you, me and the janitorial staff!"
"Well, the janitors couldn't get the time off... and to be honest, I'm actually a 3d projection coming to you from my hotel room just off the beach.."

At least we have this "feature" to exploit for another month or so
