True, a lot of empires do stick together and one not in a particular empire can feel a little left out in one of their threads, or at least not feeling like you fit in there. So everybody got a double-eded sword: the empiring types were not flooding the main board with messages, but they were now bunched together in a separate place and getting a bit cliquish at times.
Luckily for me, at least, the Spymaster has business that spans several empires and feels quite free to crash their threads anytime even if I am not "in" with the people who frequent that thread. Sadly, though, I do not check the main forum as often anymore as a consequence of the move. So I end up helping the ones with questions less because of it.
As for the game itself, it still holds amazing powers on a lot of players long after most of them would have normally got tired of most other games. And then there are the forum dwellers who do not play much anymore but like to visit. Those are the ones that really are feeling the disconnect: no strong empire ties, but like to hang around. With all the hub bub in the Empire forum, they do not feel the strong connection as a Galciv community like before, since the emphasis has shifted to something more like "the community of Empire X's Galciv players" instead of "we are all Galciv players".
