WinCustomize and Load Balancing

Well, with our server migration today we were also able to install a new server.  This has allowed me to redirect some of the load to the new server.  So the main WinCustomize site (scripts) is now running off of two servers.

We did do some load balancing in the past with www2 but it was not quite the same because both servers that WC used were also shared with other websites.  So now, the WinCustomize script servers are pretty much exclusively used for WC (one server is shared with www.galciv2.com at the moment).  This should help performance and stability.

Plus we were able to a more proper load balancing system.  Previously we would just redirect users to www2 if the server reached a certain number of connections.  But now we are doing our load balancing through a DNS server system so you will always use www.wincustomize.com as the address no matter which server you are on.

Also, we had recently purchased a new database server which was faster and that has help reduce the some of our database bottle necks.  The personal pages exists on yet another server and the skin library images and files come off of two more servers.  So as it stands WC is now using 5 servers.  Pretty good compared to about 6 months ago where it was half that.

We still need to shuffle some of our other websites around onto different servers so hopefully there still is room for improvement in the days to come.

Things still seem a bit on the "Buggy" side..I am *Not complaining!..LoL..just letting you know what I am experiencing..

When I read a thread and go to return to the main boards the order of posts seems waaaaaaay different than it was before I went into the thread I was reading!..

This thread is a perfect example..says it's been up for 15mins..a thread that I started was at the bottom of the "immediate" list before I opened this thread..I exited and returned to the boards and the thread that was at the bottom was now at the top..this thread was nowhere in sight..and a few other threads where "Where ever" ..just kinda strange is all..I am sure you guys are still working out the bugs and thanks!

Sounds like a good set-up for handling uploading and downloading, and DNS is a good thing IMO.

Thanks for all the hardwork to T-Man, Nakor, Flyin, and Boogiebac? - sorry, I don't remember the others.

Feedback =

Noticed slower than normal request-to-load time, once image load starts it is very fast. Could be time of day issue. Using IE on cable modem.

Peace.

I'll look into more tomorrow but I have a feeling it is because the clock on the new machine was initially set to GMT time (5 hours difference).  If you posted before I fixed the time that could have been the cause.

Well...T-man heres something else..I tried to go into Subscriber resources and I got the follwing error message *COM object with CLSID {73A90732-C225-45C3-8E15-C6DA441FDDA0} is either not valid or not registered.*

The boards have still been acting goofy for me all night, Posts that I reply to disappear instantly, as if they were never there.. others just not updating..etc..etc..
little quirks to make it interesting..LoL..

The light will be permanently off at the end of the tunnel between 23:00-06:00 due to energy conserving.
