Icon Packageer fails to assign theme icons to file types of new release versions of Adobe Products

After Installing Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Pro and Illustrator CS, icons cannot be reassigned to themes. I have also tried to assign icons through properties window interface and it also fails. Anyone know what is going on?

Thanks to assistance of Brian and Kris, we were able to create a temporary fix with a registry hack.

Well, you may need to create a different shortcut maybe..

Actually, registry points to new file types for all Adobe products with CS release and Acrobat 7 Pro. If you hack the registry, the Icon Packages work correctly.

I beleive that the shortcut points to 'Adobe.....' and is grayed out. Won't the new short point to the path?

I found out that the file type icons ".pdf" ".ai"".psd" are actually managed by new entries in the registry. They are "AcroExch.Document.7", "Photoshop.Image.8" and I dont have the new name for the illustrator file as I write this. However the DefaultIcon is not changed by Icon Packager for the two I mentioned. Both require unique registry changes. Once the changes are in place everything works as it should. Also, for photoshop you are required to add a DefaultIcon to the original Photshop.image registry entry. It all works! And, I was working with both Stardock and Adobe. It was Brian Harper of Stardock that pointed us in the direction of the solution. Adobe's stance is that Photoshop, Illustrator, and Acrobat are their products. They can manage the initial registgry entries as they see fit.

That's why, you just need to create a manual shortcut.

Not true for Acrobat 7.0 PRO. The file type is assigned to Acrobat 7.0 However, icon is not assigned to AcroExch.Document which is the file type we know as PDF. It is assigned to AcroExch.Document.7. You can try to alter through properties after you right click, however, the iccon for PDF is not changed. We found this out after researching the registry.
