I am choked!!!

I am choked!!!

Choked

When I "purchased Windowblinds" awhile back I was under the impression I had "indefinite downloads(with windowblinds)now I'm not allowed to download anymore because I'm a past customer? Why renege? Is this the right approach to keep customers? I am left to wonder what has happened to this place I used to call home?

I reread the original post and the issue is not about any membership fees or their worth...... carolelee is referring to her purchase of "WindowBlinds" and the original provisions of that purchase.

..and if a notice is posted, it should be honored. Until they can change the wording.

When you purchase something, you know what you are buying and you understand the conditions, it could be clothing, furniture....whatever. You find out if it can be returned, warrenty......whatever. This is the same with Stardock.....no where at the time did it state any download caps.......I feel misled!!

I understand your being miffed about this carolelee and I certainly sympathize..
However, I don't recall being offered unlimited downloading privileges by subscribing to windowblinds.. that only seems to come with the wincustomize browser subscription.
I may be wrong about that though, so I should probably shut up...

JamMeister, I did not subsribe to windowblinds, I bought the software......big difference

Not really, you "purchased" it, but still have to pay for it every year.. I call that a subscription, not a purchase.. wouldn't you?

I reiterate: The issue is not about any membership fees or their worth...... carolelee is referring to her purchase of "WindowBlinds" and the original provisions of that purchase.

I believe that WindowBlinds can be purchased in CD form or directly online.

Okay, can you cut and paste a copy of the original provisions here?
That would certainly prove your point beyond a shadow of a doubt!

...ok don't get mad. But even if you buy software (PSP9, photoshop, Microsoft Office) you have to buy upgrades. Is that what the additional charge is for?

Carolelee, the fastest way to deal with this issue is to either email or call Stardock support and have them explain or fix the problem.
Posting the problem here only gets you a lot of mixed feedback and at the end only the people at Stardock are the ones capable of dealing with this.

You're welcome, carolelee.

I originally bought the CD and after discovering that this was a reputable site, I puchased online.

I bought it online with the understandingunlimited downloads.....I would buy a subsciption in a heartbeat but that is notthe point

Strange bugs in here....I can't edit and I spaced my words
Reply #42 Top
As Apocalypse_67 states there is no point to posting the provisions here as Stardock is the only one that can resolve this matter.
I'm sorry carolelee, I don't mean to upset you... you should definitely contact someone at Stardock and ask them to clear this up for you..
Jam, I not mad at you, please don't get me wrong.......as for Stardock, that is a lost cause(SORRY)they don't get back to you.....trust me! Too big for their britches, I guess

Try contacting Patrick Ford [pford@stardock.com] about your problem, he helped me with mine very quickly!

carolelee ....the wording 'unlimited downloads' would refer to no 'cap' on the annual download, as with the subscriber not having a limit.

Nothing as I ever recall  mentioned 'unlimited' for eternity.

To receive a product/service you first need to pay for that product/service.  EG, you bought an SD product...[WB]...and you received that product....and as a 'bonus', while you were a 'current customer' you also had NO LIMITATION on your downloading .....that was the 'bonus' attributed to the customer 'currency'.

With Object Desktop this is less of a 'drama' as it 'needs' a renewal subscription each year which maintains customer currency.

No-one in their right mind would [or should] assume that 200 years after a single product purchase Stardock should still be subsidising an ex-customer's bandwidth use.....nor should that 'load' be expected to be paid by current subscribers.

Remember, every time a person downloads anything from the site....it costs 'someone'....and that is generally Stardock.

$20 for a product [Windowblinds] AND a few Gig of downloads [reasons why or not is immaterial] is pretty darn good....a cent a meg for the skins...and you get the WB proggy for nix...

Not sure if anyone would know this question but who changed this policy, Stardock or Wincustomize? I just wish an Admin would come up with some kind of answer.

Jafo, I understand what you are saying and I agree to a point but the wording at that time said unlimited downloads that could mean a 1000 years....it did not say after a year or anything.......this is my whole point!

Jafo, you are the most "level-headed" admin here, could you please pass this on to whoever handles these kind of issues......I'm right on this subject, you know it
