Weekly Riddle #1

As none of you know I LOVE riddles. Because many of you also may like riddles, I have decided to enact a Weekly Riddle Foundation, asking riddles. This is open to everybody. The person to correctly answer first will get a nice pat on the back. So, here's #1:

A ship is sailing in the pacific ocean. Over the side of the ship is a rope ladder. Each rung of the ladder is 3 decimeters appart, and the last rung is touching the water. An incoming tide is raising the water level at 20 cm/hr. If the rate of rise is constant. How long will it take for 4 rungs to get completely submurged? (For those of you who don't know what a rung is, it's a step in a ladder)

4 rungs will never become submerged. The ship floats so the ladder will always rise with the ship.

conference,
all the animals attend
except one. Which animal does not attend ?

The Elephant is in the refrigerator! This
tests
whether you have a
comprehensive thinking. OK, if you did not
answer
correctly the last three

to

4. There is a river, which is filled with
crocodiles. How do you manage to
cross it?








Correct Answer: Simply swim through it. All the
Crocodiles are attending
the Animal Conference!
I hope you got this one correct.

Well, those were a little silly. Here's another riddle:
Three guys in a hotel call room service
and order two large
pizzas. The delivery boy
brings them up with a bill for exactly
$30.00. Each guy gives him
a $10.00 bill, and
he leaves. When he hands the
$30.00 to the cashier,
he is told a mistake
was made. The bill was only $25.00, not
$30.00. The cashier gives
the delivery boy five $1.00 bills and
tells him to take it back to
the 3 guys who ordered the pizza.
On the way back to their room, the
delivery boy has a
thought....these guys did not give him a
tip. He figures that
since there is no way to split $5.00
evenly three
ways anyhow, he will keep two dollars
for
himself and give them
back three Dollars. OK! So far so good!
He knocks on the door and one fellow
answers. He explains about a
mix up in the bill,
and hands the guy the three dollars,
then
departs with his two
dollar tip in his pocket.
Now the fun begins! remember $30-$25=$5
Right?
$5-$3=$2 Right? So what's the problem?

All is well, right? Not quite.

Answer this: Each of the three guys
originally gave $10.00 each.
They each got back $1.00 in change. That
means they paid $9.00
each, which times three is $27.00. The
delivery boy kept $2.00 for a tip.
$27.00
plus $2.00 equals
$29.00.

Where the heck is that other dollar????????????

Persephone3: Riddle 2, I don't see the problem other than the math is wrong.

they paid $30 for pizza but the price was $25, supplying the $2 that the delivery boy stole that is 25+2 = $27 which is what they paid for, 3x9=27 not 29. I think you counted the 2 to many times. Accountants would go crazy over the math in that riddle, not a bad one tho.
