Removing skins

from WinCustomize Forums
I would like to remove some skins from my library but don"t see a link to delete-how do I go about this.

Developer computerdummy5 Hello....Ah you dont really want to remove any of your dx skins..ooohh...okay
Go to the My Skins tabs in there you will see a list of your skins...click on the skin that you want to remove but on the skin..on the left hand side of the skin...and that will open it and you will see an option in there to delete your skin on the right side. hope this helps..

Thanks butch-I have tried that but clicking on skins in "my skins" does not anywhere give me the option to remove. I would like this to be resolved-they are my skins and I want them to be removed. Thanks for your help though and keep up the great work butch

Developer computerdummy5 Hmmm...thats funny we have the same access level and before I posted it to make sure and it worked for me. Could be a bug. Things seem to be very very buggy lately. I guess with all the work going on by T Man. As a matter of fact my stats were frozen for like a day and a half, so God knows what. Maybe you could send an email to Jafo or one of the administrators explaining the problem. Maybe there is something minor that they could work out for you. BTW, I hope you are not taking all your library down ! I am a die hard fan. I been running your Office System 1.1 ever since you put it here and really want to congratulate you...great...I didnt really have much to do on it. Sorry I could not be of much more help.

 Developer computerdummy5 ...if it's not working for you at the moment...due to a 'bug' of some sort....you can list them here...names/sections ...and I'll remove them for you.

My guess is it's a temporary thing...I've noticed a new quirk when in skin moderation that makes things a wee bit more painful.... but as they say 'what doesn't kill us makes us stronger'...

Thanks butch-yeah seems they hyped this new site for ever and in my opinion it doesn"t come close to the hype.One problem after another-more bugs than terminex can handle.Thanks for the nice comments on office 1.1-but they should go to gef because that is his theme and I too really like it-wonderful job he did on that one. Anyhows back to deleteing my dx library-someone please read this and help with the deletion-admins-I know you are out there!Bugs or no bugs they are MY PROPERTY and I want them removed-thanks

When 2K5 went online [public] it was the first chance to test it under real LOAD...and it was somewhat 'slow' necessitating several alterations....and it's fair to assume it was the latter that added to the 'bugs', and the solution is in-hand as daily [almost] I see subtle changes to the functionality.

Let's face it...none of these bugs is 'life-threatening'....and are promptly resolved anyway...

I'll sort those ones for you...

Thanks jafo-I do appreciate it.And just to clarify-I"m not removing my work because of anger. Wincustomize has their criteria and I have mine-if I submit a theme and it drops to low in rateing to be downloaded-I remove it-don"t really care for the rateing system here so its my little way to protest-nothing more,nothing less.I agree-bugs can be annoying-but as you stated thank god they are not life threatening. Thanks again jafo for your help

Developer computerdummy5 Really sorry to read that you took your library down. Especially due to the ratings system. not really sure that many people like the system. But anyways I know where your site is and will definetley will be dropping in from time to time to check your work. And I also hope that you be dropping in here and saying hi to everybody. butch123 ....he  hasn't removed his work....he has 'tidied' up his gallery ..... most people do from time to time.

As for ratings...they are watched closely to ensure they are not abused... which beggars the question how someone thinks they can rate a Litestep theme when all they are likely to know of it is the screenshot.  A screenshot is one happy snap of 1600 lines of hand-written code and hundreds of images taking weeks to create....yet some twit will go 'der...look at dat piccie...ho-hum' and consign the work to the depths of obscurity for no valid reason than their own ignorance.

Rate the skin/theme...not its 'pretty picture'

I am glad if I am wrong ! Now..as far as people rating I think at least what I do I'm not a Litestep user but realizing as you say there is a lot of work going into making a theme, what I do and you can check my stats to see, I try to judge it because I believe that we should all try our best and we should all make the effort to be an active participant, but on the same hand if a Litestep rating is rated at say...5 or 6 for sure I would not give it a 2 or 3...its thats a 5-6 and knowing I dont use Litestep. If I am gonna rate it, I am gonna rate it 5-6. And I think thats what anybody should do. After all what does it give us to try and put it in the toilet? If people like it they will download it, if they dont they wont.But thats just my opinion. I like to go around, take a look at all the work, if I am qualified to leave an opinion I do, and if I am not qualiified most of the times I will just say good work and thats it. Dont believe in degrading.

You may think screenshots is what skinning is all about.

You are wrong.

Skinning is GUI design....it is an active interface, not a static brainless jpeg.

i'm perplexed. how can a person who doesn't use litestep rate a litestep skin? that's like me rating a sysmetrix skin when i've never used the app in my life. judging a skin by its screeenshot is baffling, to say the least. a person must use the actual app and skin before judging it, in my opinion. maybe i'm way off base about this, though.
