Can't install themes . . . PLS HELP!

hi,

after downloading a theme and starting style xp -> themes -> add new theme, i try to add the new downloaded theme, but style xp isn't showing it or applying it...
what am i doin' wrong??

Hi you, I think you are on the wrong site here.

StyleXP and WindowBlinds are not the same.

StyleXP is just a hack of the uxtheme.dll, which someone got the nerve to ask 20$ for it.
WindowBlinds is a standalone application which doesn't mess with your system file (doesn't hack anything), and skins much more feautures of the GUI on top of it.

If you downloaded the 'theme'/'blind' here on this site you will need WindowBlinds https://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/ in order to apply/run the blind. Install the program, reboot and then just double-click on the ***.wba file.

If you downloaded a file that is ****.msstyles from somewhere else... I am afraid, I can't help you since I don't use the hack.

so i try it with windowblinds and kick style xp out of my system...

Yes, all the windowblinds themes here require windowblinds, they will not work on style xp. Each library has some information and a link about the program that is required for the themes in the library.

WinowBlinds is faster and safer than StyleXP. It is even faster then windows shell.

You need desktopx for the desktopx themes (pretty common sense with the naming). As I mentioned...when you're in the library viewing the themes, look at the top, there will be a little section about the program.

Don't get rid of style XP, it's a very good GUI applier for XP, and you get much better designs but windowblinds has a much bigger libary

Newbie here.

Not to HiJack this thread but this is sooooo cool. I purchased WindBlinds and downloaded my favorite blinds but I still don't seem to have 100%. In other words, I don't have the cool background and desktop/start menu icons like is shown in the preview of the blind before download. Not quite complete, ya know? What do I have to do to make it look just like the preview of the blind?

Check the wallpapers section for a matching wall (just do a search using the name of the windowblind), sometimes the author will make a matching wall, iconpackager, cursorxp etc. Also try entering in the name of the blind you're using and select All Libraries from the selector so you can browse them all at once.
