OD 1.1 Not on SD Central

It's been a while now since it was released!

After two weeks, ObjectDock 1.1 still does not appear in Stardock Central for me to download/update. Still says v1.05. I've never seen ObjectDock Plus on SD Central for download either... Ever.

Stardock central will only show you the new versions if you have entered your registration.

Open stardock central and click on 'Registration Info' on the bottom-right corner of your Stardock central Window. Under 'register' click on 'Misc' and choose ObjectDock plus from the dropdown list. Enter your register number and the email you registered OD+ with.

so what does that mean. Did you ever do what I suggested?

Also, make sure your SD-central shows the prerelease versions (View > show Pre-release (beta) Versions.

First... I was not and am not aware of the 1.1 build of OD to be "Pre-release".

Second... when I choose that it still says only 1.05 is availabe.

Third... why would I have to put in an OD+ registration to see/update the FREE version of OD which I have been doing repeatedly for a year now on SD Central?

Fourth... If SD wishes for me to BUY OD+ wouldn't it make sense to show it so I can see that it's there before I cough up my credit card? All their other products are marketed via SD Central in this way.

Did SD suddenly change their delivery system JUST for OD without telling anybody. If so, that's just briliant.

So like I said... errr... whatever. Meaning your reply doesn't really address my question. Don't worry about it. Stardock seems to be less and less consistent with each passing week. It's a wonder anybody can figure out what's going on at all with their stuff these days.

First: you are the one that talks about OD+ in your original post. The more detailed you describe your problems (e.g. your exact settings, what you have tried so far....), the better the chance someone here can help your. I assume you have tried to click on 'Tools > Check for Application updates'?

Second: people on this forum are not in any way paid by, or associated with Stardock, they are just normal users trying to help others. The official way would be to contact Stardock at support@stardock.com

Third: I noticed that I had to enter the registration to OD+ in order to see the updates, it seems to be a little bug in SDC. Hence the suggestion...

Fourth: Another thing you could try is to close SDC and then go into your SD Central\Data\Public\odk\Production folder and rename the odk.xml to odk.xml.bak. and restart SDC. Don't know whether that works but it might be that SDC will create a new file if it can't find the old one and will refresh. If it doesn't work don't forget to rename the file back to odk.xml.

Fifth: Work on your attitude.

This is why I rarely post to these forums. Plain English, it seems, is a forgotten language. I say what I mean and no more... no less. Nobody claimed, insinuated or suggested that you were a paid Stardock employee, by the way.

Just forget it. OK? Good lord. People with "attitude" are always bashing me about my attitude where there is NONE!

First you tell me I don't give you enough information then when I give it to you in a plain, methodical way you stick an "attitude" badge on me. If SD Central has bugs, it has bugs. What I stated stands. It doesn't make any sense based on history. It isn't consistent and you didn't reply to my post with any meaningful capacity. Yes. I refered to OD Plus but only refered to it. I never stated I had it, used it, or registered it. I refered to it because it seems like a symptom of something wrong with SD's delivery system.

If you think examining and stating the facts are attitude... well... that's your problem. I'm signing off now. Thanks for trying though.

People here who spend their free time catering to your request for help deserve a little more respect than your giving them. Please, if you have nothing good to say, don't say it at all.

Dontcha just love people like that Aufisch? You take the time to try an help people out and they give you attitude.

And then when people can't figure out how to get things to work it's always some conspiracy or someone elses problem.

you may be able to help me though aufisch, been looking through the site and my problem is the same as empty man, i tried what you suggested and i am having problems, my first and really only question is is object dock plus part of a object desktop subscription, it looks like it is and thusly i should get access to it but if it isn't that explains a few things, assistance please from anyone... thank you

idova... ObjectDockPlus is NOT part Object Desktop, and must be purchased seperately. However, ODNT subscribers get a discount.

Stardock central will only show you the new versions if you have entered your registration.

How would that work with a free version since there is no registration number? Seems to me that if there is a new version (not just an update) it would be shown as available. Tested whether an installed version affects it, uninstalled the free object dock... SDC now shows that I don't have it, yet the only available version is 1.05.18 not 1.1. Why not 1.05.17 or even 1.0? If a full version (free or otherwise) is available should not the most recent version be the one that is shown? Using SDC I have had other available updates to Free Stuff (else they would all being showing dates of 2003), yet no object dock 1.1.

Couple of things...
SDC is only available to people with a OD subscription. Is it maybe that SDC itself is not up to date?
Just guessing here.

Thats what I'm thinking. Just installed the new free version and it shows it(1.10)installed whereas previously it said 1.05.18 was available. I think SDC needs udating, which I believe was empty man's original point (at least that's how I saw it). Since he was referring to SDC I assumed he has a subscription as I do.

When you using SDC to upgrade OD+ you have to go to the "Misc" tab and look for it. It doesn't show in Object Desktop. And make sure you click in down right corner to register it.Then Empty Man you should be able to get it all right. But you have to learn better manors.

When i use SDC OD+ doesn't show in MISC or anywhere else. It seems to me it should show as available to upgrade to... other items I haven't loaded are there. Blog, Aq Dsktp, etc.

I believe the reason OD+ doesn't show up is because there are two versions for it. If you have OD+ installed it won't give you the option to install the free version anymore. I believe the same goes for CursorXP and CursorXP plus as well.

The reason for this is most likely because many people would try and install both versions on their computer > a proven receipe for trouble.

I remember the confusion with people installing both Skinstudio professional and the free version, and the WinStyles/ThemeManager confusion which was even worse because the programs had different names.

YEAH for aufisch!!!! Idiots don't deserve your FREE help and assistance anyway!! And the "trouble" part about having both Public and Purchased couldn't be more true...caused me 2 reformats within the first two weeks....because after the first one I reinstalled the same ODNT goodies right back on the HD....DUH?????

FYI....I have both OD + and CursorXP + and strangely enough OD Public doesn't show up, but SD Central constantly asks me to download CursorXP, even though I already have +....just today it tried to update CXP to version 1.31 ~ when I have 1.5 with +.

WHO KNOWS????

Same here FWIW

but SD Central constantly asks me to download CursorXP, even though I already have +....

Have you double checked that CXP+ is recognised as being registered by SDC? This happened to me with OD+ ... ? Just a thought.

The SDC Free Stuff tab only shows ObjDock 1.05. For some reason ObjDock 1.1 does not show up as available. The question is about ObjDock (freeware version) NOT ObjDock +. Thank you to all who provide free help on this site.
