Interesting Scenario

I was thinking of playing a game where I don't colonize any planets other than Earth, just for kicks. Obviously I couldn't play the upper difficulty levels, but I wonder if I could win at cakewalk. If I needed to invade a foreign planet, I would pull out the mass drivers and toast it. Has anyone else tried this? If so, what size map and yellow planet density? Certianly, the smaller the map the easier it would be.

kinda sounds like that one scenario in sim city, where you make a map with no land, all of it is underwater -if you want land, you gotta build land at $100 a square.

i guess it is possible to win a game like that on cakewalk. i know if you pick a tiny map, and make habitable planets rare, you can do it. in that map setup, the AI players would only have about 1 planet each -they would be lucky if they find a second planet. however, what happens if an AI surrenders to you or if a planet flips to you? will you destroy that colony to stay with the "1 planet only" rule?
