Why do you skin?

Why do you skin?

...and who has triggered your skinning debut.

Hey everybody,it's a bright new day today!!! I woke up this morning feeling an endless happy feeling. It must be Christmas,it brings back all the memories.Well one of the good ones is when i started skinning! And you? When did it happen? When was your first try ever?Who has been your inspiration or thy master? Well how has it evolved now? And most importanly why do you skin? What is your personal concept of the art of skinning?

What Frogboy mentioned. Personal gratification and Glory. It has helped me making my Photoshop skills better, and hopefully more creative. I do it for the fun it brings me, and if people like what I make, fine. If not that's fine too. You can never expect everyone to like what you do. I hope to make more theme based skins, since that is more fun for me, but I always keep in mind that it also has to usable. If I can use it, others can too. I have a rather long list of ideas I want to do, and they will come.

Actually I find most fun in making WindowBlinds skins, but once I get started, I can't get my self to "just" release that. I always have to make more, but due to time limitations I might go away from that concept.

I got into skinning over a year ago thanks to ObjectDock and Winamp, it evolved and has taken me further.

"Top idols" would be the Skinplant guys, Pixtudio and danilloOc.

I skin because.. well...
I got tired of my veins and bones being exposed. People were screaming horrible things
when I walked down the street.
Besides that.. skin helps repel water when I take a shower..

I make skins for my personal use and share them with the public.
Sure, it's nice when people compliment me on my work, but
Glory and Financial gains haven't been in the equation.
People have commented that my designs are plain and/or simple.
Well, that's the way I like my desktop folks.
When I get tired of the latest skin I've made,
I will open up Photoshop and go to work on a new design.
I have a concept design ready to work on, but TriaX is still
gracing my desktop.
