Microsoft goes after PeopleSoft customers

PeopleSoft's acquisition of Oracle triggers competitive response..

A top Microsoft executive is warning PeopleSoft customers that they might want to think about a technology shift, now that Oracle's acquisition has been approved.

"Oracle's acquisition of PeopleSoft may be moving forward, but difficult technology decisions lie ahead," Microsoft vice president Bill Veghte wrote Wednesday in the e-mail, which was seen by CNET News.com. "The ongoing challenges of owning and maintaining business applications remain unchanged."

Interesting. I wonder how this will effect cunsomer relationship management and knowledge base systems? Will SAP and Oracle/Peoplesoft become a big showdown or will Microsoft come from behind and beat out Oracle and battle SAP while Oracle tries to swollow Peoplesoft?

Interesting. I shall be looking at the new version of Navision in the new year, along with any other contenders. At the moment we are running 20yr old programs on an ageing A/S400. I really want to see the back of that asap.

This could turn into an ugly battle just like it was when Oracle was going after people soft.They've been trying to buy them for a long time. I think the last bid I saw was $25 and PS said that wasn't enough.
