I am having some problems with my own custom bootskins. I have the images at the correct size and a 16 color pallet (4Bit). When I preview them in the prog they look great but when I apply them the looks are nowhere close to the preview. I have tried everything I know to try to include recreating the images with several diff imaging progs. What else can I try?

You aren't using the same color palette for both bmps. That's a must, otherwise you'll get the result you talking about.
Go to Bootskins website - http://www.bootskin.com and click on Support and you should be able to find out how to do that.

Ok, supposing BootSkin is installed correctly and that you've downloaded a .bootskin file, all you should need to do is double-click on the .bootskin file and it should install itself and open up BootSkin so that you can preview it.

If the file you downloaded is a .zip file, you need to open it and determine wether the .bootskin file is contained within, which would require you to extract the .bootskin file and double-click it, as mentioned above. If, however, the .zip archive contains a couple of .bmp files and a bootskin.ini file, then all you need to do is change the extension of the .zip archive to .bootskin in order to activate BootSkin functionality mentioned above.
Alternatively, you can just extract the files from the archive into their own folder in the BootSkin skins folder, where BootSkin is installed on your system.

Hope I explained that clearly enough...
