Hands down you're gonna get almost every opinion siding with WB...this being a site supported by Stardock...the maker of WB. The thing is....it really is a better program. Both will accomplish what you want, but WB does so without replacing any system files, does so using very little resources, has a very extensive following and very large library of skins. Finally any skin...msstyle...that is created for StyleXP can be used with WB. The other way around is not easily possible and in the case of some very complex skins, totally impossible

Go with WB. Less headaches. Lot more fun

I find that they both have their good points. by both I mean windowblinds and the uxtheme hack. However I find that if I can convert a msstyle to wb correctly I can usually modify it so that it is quicker (at least it seems to be that way to me) than its msstyle counterpart.

I thought Style XP didn't work anymore? SP2 and stuff right?

Went to check recenty but I didn't out in the time to look at the forums to see if the program still works on Windows XP SP2.

As Essencay says, it's unlikely that you'll find an dissenting opinion here.

WindowBlinds is good for skinners because it offers them the flexibility they desire because the engine is under the control of Stardock and they can make additions and modifications based on user feedback. A hacked uxtheme can never offer that, and so it's less skinner-friendly.

In addition, I would suggest that the performance of WB is going to be far in advance of that offered by uxtheme, if only because the XP one won't be changed one bit over the code available in 2001 while WB has had over three years of futher tweaking to reduce memory footprint and CPU usage.

So basically my argument is that WB can do more, with less, and it has a history of good support. What more do you want? (the suggestion box is always open )

Get WB4.4 and also use the uxtheme .dll patch which is free. Best of both worlds then in case SS4.4 doesn't convert the skin properly and you don't have the time/knowledge to fix it.

While Windowbinds is definately better, the point is that it doesn't have to be a either/or question. You can use both. Well, actually, I wouldn't use StyleXP but if you just want to patch the uxtheme.dll you can use any .msstyle theme, and it won't interfere with Windowblinds.
