Backup devices

I currently back up my computer using a dvd-r, but sometimes I forget to do it. I am thinking about buying a second hard drive so I don't have to rely on using disks.

Does anybody else do this, or is there a better way?

Always do it this way. As well as my 80Gb main, I use a 160Gb for monthly backups and a 250Gb for weekly back-ups. Each of the three drives has a partition for My Documents - a master and two back-ups. I use Drive Image 7 to back-up the o/s + proggies, and SyncBack for My Documents...

Yesterday UT stopped working for no apparent reason and couldn't be fixed. A restore from back-up took 20mins with no agro.

Buying a second drive is the best upgrade you can make.

I have a 160gb drive now. I found a 40gb drive for like $50 on newegg. That is more than enough to backup my documents and data.

Go for the new "La Cie" external backup drive .... one Terrabyte of storage for around A$1000.00!
