W2K5 Beta Ready for Subscribers

Yes it has been too long since I have posted any updates about WC2K5.  But it has been for good reason.

We have been working hard at coding the main site trying to get the beta ready for launch.  We were supposed to have it ready yesterday but we fell behind schedule a little bit.

Now just because he have been working on the main site does not mean that we stopped coding on the WinCustomize Personal Pages.  However, we have taken a small break from the WinCustomize Personal Pages in order to get some work done on the main site.  I have a few updates on the personal pages that I will try to get in this week but most of our attention will be on the main site.

Ok, for all those WinCustomize Subscribers, once again you luck out and get the first peak at the new site.  To view the new WC2K5 site simple visit http://www2.wincustomize.com and login.

Let us know what you think!

I like this site a bit better. It's what I am used to. I guess time will tell if I like the new WC.

I like the tabs to navigate to the different sections, but I'm not sure about the apppearance. Will we be able to apply different skins like we can on the current WC?

Is Jafo trying to get in or out?

I login & it tells me I'm logged in but won't allow me access to any of the links

Keeps telling me to subscribe etc.

If you are having problems logging in I need to know more information.  Like are you behind a firewall?  Do you have something like Norton Internet Security installed?  Are cookies enabled?   Try giving cookie permissions to www2.wincustomize.com and see if that works.  Can you logon to the personal web pages at http://t-man.wincustomize.com ?  Anything else you can think of that may be important don't forget to include it.

Man, that's sweet. I'm guessing that this will eventually be integrated into SDC once the bugs are gone. Very nice job guys.

Wierd Behaviour T-Man...

At your site (t-man.wincustomize...) I can seemingly access everthing regardless of whether I explicitly login or not. The only difference is that if I login I get a 'Welcome Chris TH' and 'Logout' button appearing.

I'm running WinXP SP2 & the only firewall is the internal Windows one. No Norton's & haven't adjusted the cookie handing from the default. Will try the cookies thing later & let you know.

Same here, Chris...

I accessed the WC2K5 site finally.....seemed to be an issue that I was already logged into WC...

Chris is not listed as a WC subscriber which is why it's not working for him.

BTW, no, there won't be per person skins.  But we are still tweaking with the look of it.

I realize some people may not take to such a radically different look. But take a few steps back and look at today's WinCustomize with a fresh point of view. It's pretty hideous actually.  Tons of text links all over the place. Redundancy all over, and incredibly inefficient use of tables.

Looks great here. Nice layout and easy to navigate. Great job, T-Man!

I love the new look and change. Everything is very sortable, which is good,a nice feature I like very much. The forums are a bit confusing at first and I am not sure , It seems to me that the Forums and articles are being intertwined? Example I will be in the Forums Tab, I click on a thread I want to read. Now I am moved over to the Articles page which is where the posts for the Thread are. Not complaining, just didn't know if it is a glitch, or if it is designed to be that way.
Anyway I feel that change is good and everyone is doing a wonderful job

Yea there's still a lot of work to do on the whole forums / articles thing. That part is the part that just got updated.

Wow! Great job so far.

I like it now and it's only beta.

This is most likely correct.

I'm an OD subscriber which is crossreferenced to Wincustomize and I also have a stardock.net account (AFAIK! that's the channel through which purchases are made right?).

I guess I assumed that that would be enough to permit login.

Chris, for now, access to the beta is limited to Wincusomize subscribers only. Stardock product clients will be next.

so will I need to setup my personal skinning page to access my skins section? I went to the Beta site, logged in all was good really like the layout love the navigation but I noticed there's no My Skins link anywhere.. I do have the option of creating my personal skinning site I've just shyed away from it up to this point.. Is that what I need to do here?

TIA!

Go into "My Account" and hit "Create my own Wincustomize.com skinning site"...I think that will work...
