A browser tip for those who use Desktop X themes and hide the explorer task bar.

Download avant browser at avantbrowser.com, it's a lot like internet explorer except it doesn't crash as often and has a lot better stuff.

The main reason is because it has a built in window tabs which allows you to select the different sites you may be at without the taskbar.

Here's a screenshot of this very post:

The tools menu I included is to show just some of the extra cool options.

So umm yeah get avantbrowser you won't regret it. And if you do have the taskbar with your DesktopX Theme then you can just choose not to view the window tabs, easy as that

two other options like avantbrowser that allow for tabbed browsing are firefox and opera.

I really do like tabbed browsing.

Hmmmm ....I downloaded AvantBrowser. I'm using it now. I'm quite impressed so far. I also downloaded the skinning program, so I might take a shot at skinning it if it's not too difficult. Thanks for the link.

Slim Browser, My IE, Avant Browser... there are many choices of tabbed browsere using IE.

BTW: It can't crash less than IE, because it IS IE. If IE crashes, it crashes with it.

It's a bit different than that, besides I've never had I.E running at the same time as Avant, what's the point?

Avant doesn't crash at all though, no illegal operation crap when I mistype a Url or just from a problem loading a page.

Firefox isn't bad but I find Avant much better, and Opera just sucks.

No problem, it'll take maybe some slight getting use to like anything different.

You don't need to have IE run seperatly, IE is the browser you are using with just a different shell aroud it. It's still IE.
But I never had any crashing problems with IE though (although I did have some big issues with AB - see next paragraph).

Besides, I've tried AB and I found that it has a serious memory leak. It  more and more memory the more you use it, as if it keeps in memory the previous site you've visited or something. For tabbed browsing, I find Slim Browser much faster, otherwise it's almost identical in its features.

I still can't wait for Web Explorer, Stardock's soon to be released tabbed browser though!!!

as far as I know, AvantBroswer, MyIE, SlimBrowser, MSN Explorer and even the DX browser window as well as the WinCustomize Browser use Internet Explorer as its portal, if you will, to the Internet and render pages.

With all the programs mentioned above in this post, they just don't load all the IE frame luxuries that Microsoft put into it.

FireFox does not use the IE engine AT ALL. Neither does Opera or Netscape.
This is what I know, could be wrong.

Oh and by the way, AvantBrowser DOES look cool. But doesn't all the security risks still end up being true if your still running a browser that uses Internet Explorer to render pages???

(I, so far, have not given up explorer entirely. I have so much special, specific crap that I do that, so far, only Internet Explorer does right now and I have to use it and then open FireFox)
