Control Center background aren't retained

HI Folks,
Anyone know how to get the backgrounds on the Virtual Desktops to come back after Log Off or Shutdown? I get the default color everytime, and have to go back and change the settings to get them back.

OK,
How about an access violation everytime time a SQL Server dropdown box appears.... It doesn't matter if it is in Query analyzer or in an App I wrote. Everytime I get that list of SQL Servers I get that error.

The backgroud problems are for textures only. I have just solid colors and they come back everytime..
