Flash and shockwave kept crashing for a while after the upgrade, but it stopped. Otherwise I never had any problems.

I was just told by my ISO that SP2 Network version had almost no issues, and that I should consider using that version update, even though I'm not on a network.

Installed the first day it was released via automatic updates (been a few weeks now) and haven't had any issues. No problems with programs, no issues at all.

I am informing all my customers that installing sp2 can make their system unstable and I am not recommending it at this time. I see a common demoninator being some spyware on the box that causes it to not boot afterwards or bluescreen on bootup. I usually do an sp2 uninstall from a cmd prompt and all is well. upon removing the spyware, sp2 installs with no problem.

I myself have not seen any issues with sp2

I just bit the bullet and installed SP2. Seemed to have survived it - though early days - well hours .

Took the approach of unloading all graphic add-ons, WB, cursor XP, Icon packages etc before installing, together with replacing default bootscreen and logon.

Then on completion, just for neatness once I was satisfied all was up and running I cleared my prefetch files.

My system is a basic utility system with onboard graphics - but after this has settled in for a day or 2 I'll hit my Toshiba laptop with it as well.

How does one clear the prefetch?

Window\Prefetch directory, and erase the files.

Just updated Toshiba satellite laptop to SP2- same process and everything fine except m$ bootscreen flashing up before my own choice shows. Seem to remember there was a fix for this posted elsewhere on board.

If anyone cares to repost this gem of knowledge here it will be much appreciated.

Hopefully my final update on this, re above I did find the post that referred to adding a line to boot.ini files but luckily this wasn't necessary. A simple uninstall and re-installing of bootskin appears to have done the trick and now all is as it should be.
