You need to be a little more specific.

It sounds like you're having issues with ObjectDock, rather than "All these program" as you put it.

What kind of video card/video memory do you have? I found the programs that use a lot of visual effects (like ObjectDock and WindowFX) ran 100% better once I got a decent video card.

All of the other programs worked fine even with my old card though. WindowBlinds, DesktopX, and the rest didn't slow my PC down a bit.

My PC is slow with the programs.Can I speed up them or it isn't their fault.

Running a program (any program) will suck up some cpu and memory. Running more programs will suck up more. And skinnable apps are slower than non-skinnable apps, due to all the graphics.

Videocard GUP or memory
Motherboard
RAM
other software


back ground info on your system setup is key to any help you might get

What are your system specs. In any gaming system you will want the maximum system for best performance. A lousy system gives you lousy play. Desktop customization is similar. If you want to use it all, and lots of it, you'll need a decent system.

A PIII 500 Mhtz, running WindowsXP and 256 Ram, probably won't be enough to run Object Dock, DesktopX, Windowblinds,Sysmetix, and WindowsFX, and CursorXP. It may work but it may be sluggish at times.

Just like trying to run Half Life 2 on the above system is impossible.

I would try getting a P4 3.0 Ghtz system, at least 128 MB video(256MB for gaming), 1gig of Ram, WindowsXP Pro. Then, you won't complain about anything slowing down your system.

Of course we do. Although, its pleasing to know that you think we are all stupid, and that you are the only intelligent person here. Maybe our egos just aren't as large as other peoples.
I don't think he has a clue to what he is saying really. Anytime you run any program, it is going to slightly make your system slower, if it uses resources. Heck, just filling your hard drive with files makes your boot time slower. A larger hard drive makes it slower. I larger registry, makes it slower. Theoretically, adding one piece of extra data to your registry makes your system slower, because, that one piece takes an additional infinitesimal amount of time to load during your system boot up time.

Taking the literal approach to what he is saying, doesn't make me more intelligent. It makes me less intelligent. Of course, his question isn't about the infinitesimal amount of time. This time is normally unnoticeable. Obviously, his question was about noticeable changes in system speed/performance, which is mostly effected by the specifications of ones computer system as a whole and slightly by the configuration therein.

I wouldn't touch Intel. For better and smarter computing do yourself a favor a get a AMD processor. Besides, AMD processors tend to outperform Intel processors and are cheaper as well.

Of course all is a choice, use what you like.

I guess we all have our preferences. But remember, cheaper is rarely better. And Pentium/Intel is why we have the performance that we have today. Anything else, to me, is just a cheap copy imitation. Or maybe one prefers the 386/486dx.

And, I don't want to start a AMD vs. Intel war.
