Question About SysMetrix

Do you have to have another program installed (such as DesktopX) in order for SysMetrix to work?

Cheers.

If you're talking about computer stats such as temp, fan speed etc, then yes:

http://mbm.livewiredev.com/ you need to install Motherboard Monitor.

Other then that, you don't need anything else installed.

Ok, thanks.

One question though... when I've installed DesktopX, it was able to do this (read my system) automatically.

How does it do that if I didn't have the program you mentioned installed? Is it coded into DesktopX themes somehow?

Cheers.

I know of nothing in DX that reads your Temps, Fan speeds and Voltages

Sysmetrix can pull almost everything it needs to work from your operating system or from the internet. The things that it can not pull from the OS are fan speeds and temperatures, because Windows provides no way to measure or fetch that data. Therefore, you need a software interface (in this case, MotherBoard Monitor) to measure and report the fan rpm's and temp's as well as the CPU temp. If you are not going to use themes with displays for the speeds and temps, then you won't need Mother Board Monitor. DesktopX has absolutely nothing to do with Sysmetrix.

Exactly, just because you have DesktopX installed, it doesn't mean you can run Sysmetrix themes or should be able to run them. The programs are totally independent of each other. Yes, they both may fetch system information for you, but they work totally different.
