Protocall question

I want to use a logo (my rendering, more of there's) from a web site in my wallpaper. I have noticed alot of wall's using renderings of game companies and Windows logo's. Do i contact the web site and ask permission (i have out of respect and still waiting for a reply) or can i just do my thing?

So...you mean that you have created an image from scratch that looks like their logo and you want to use it in a wallpaper? If so, its your image that you have made and can do what you want with it. However, it would be prudent to have their approval just in case. They do have the Intellectual Property rights to their logo.

... if I hand draw Mickey Mouse, it's my image, but it's still Mickey Mouse, and I don't have any rights to it other than for personal use. If I redraw one of your skins, redo every bit, I still can't do as I please with it............ it's not my skin, it's yours.

Best to obtain permission, although some things do get through that perhaps shouldn't.
