What did you do in the end DWatson ? (no, I don't mean on the beach or with the statue)

Well... I felt stupid because I was entering the wrong address, drank some some orange soda, went to the bathroom, then turned on the XBOX and played pacman world 2, now I'm up and I realize my mistake and am still going to use it, my Spybot didn't recognize it either. Plus I see that it's microsoft certified...?

I still can't get it to work for yahoo, but am going to try the correct msn email and see what happens

1. Is your outlook express configured to work - incredimail has an auto-configure option that should feed you settings from that.

2. On the yahoo site in the mail help - there is a section all about configuring incredimail for yahoo

3. I think the same applies on the incredimail site.

4. Check out the link on #24 on that page you're taken too is a link to incredimail hints and tips or some such that deals with using Hotmail.

New addition: http://www.incredimail.com/english/faq/yahoo.html

Hope this helps a little - post back if you have problems ?

The request to get the yahoo mail is always rejected by the yahoo server
I use SBC Yahoo DSL
I've almost given up on yahoo, but really want it to receive those emails, it would be alot easier.
I have got hotmail workin now, is there a storage limit?

The Yahoo should be easy - have you got it configured to work with outlook express - is your yahoo account set up as a POP3 account?

With Hotmail as I say, I don't use em - but the storage limit question has thrown me a bit - as the mail once received is stored on your computer. The only other place to check would be with your Hotmail provider to see what the limit is on your mailbox there.

Which brings me on to a related point. You can configure Incredimail specifically to work with Norton Anti Virus and I know (cos I asked them) that while you can't configure it for AVG it does refer to it).

Personally I tend not to download with Incredimail - I use it with the notifier then check with mailwasher and only if I'm sure about the source do I download with incredimail. It is fairly configurable.

We should crack it - but I may have to take a break as my real life is gonna come through the door in about an hour But post again anyway and let me know whats happening - I'll leave the pc on and check from time to time

I tried to configure outlook express with yahoo and received the following message

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com', Server: 'pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Try this Link for support with that error message DW

http://www.domainavenue.com/support_oe6_0x800ccc0e.htm

Just please confirm that you have visited your Yahoo acct and checked it is set for POP3 - double check also if your address is .com or .co.uk - also be aware that it can take up to 24 hrs before any change to the status of your account is registered I think. So if you have changed your account today to a POP3 account it may take a while for it to activate as such - yet again all the info should be in the Yahoo Mail FAQ site.

Additional - nix that link DW - the first part is useful as a guide to checking settings - but the rest is domain specific not general - will find you a Yahoo specific link if I can and post again.

Right DW first off try rebooting and try sending again.

If that doesn't work go to this link and follow the instructions for making sure your ports are listening

It is very simple, I just did it as per the instructions on the link

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kben-usq191687

Post back with the results

Oh - right well maybe thats something to do with it - that link isn't going to where it should so I'll paste in the information below and try and follow it if you can.

The Url as it appears in the address bar if you want to try it first is:-

support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kben-usq191687

(add http:// to above if necessary)

If it doesn't work the information you need to check your ports are listening is below.

This article was previously published under Q191687
SYMPTOMS
When you try to send or receive messages using Outlook Express or Outlook, you may receive an error message. When you try to send a message to your Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) server, you may receive the following error message:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'your_account',
Server:'your_SMTP_server', Protocol:SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): NO,
Socket error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800ccc0e
Similarly, when you start the e-mail client or try to receive a message from your Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) server, you may receive the following error:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'your_account',
Server:'your_POP3_server', Protocol:POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): NO,
Socket error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800ccc0e
CAUSE
The client connects to a port that is blocked or unavailable on the mail server. If the client is trying to send a message, the blocked port is 25, and if the client is trying to retrieve a message, the blocked port is 110. Refer to the error message for the protocol and port numbers.
WORKAROUND
To work around this behavior, make ports 110 and 25 available. By default, ports 110 and 25 are available when the Exchange Server services start. The ports 110 for POP3, 119 for Network News Transfer Protocol (NNTP), and 143 for Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) are automatically opened and made available on the Exchange Server computer when the Information Store service starts. Port 25 is automatically made available when the Internet Mail Service starts. If these services do not start, the ports are not available.

If the services are running, you can verify that these ports are listening (open) on the server by using the Netstat utility that is included with Windows NT Server:
Open a command prompt on the Exchange Server computer. You have to modify the command prompt properties, because the data scrolls off the screen. Open the command prompt, right-click the upper-left corner of the window, and then click Properties. Click the Layout tab, and then change the screen buffer size to 1,000. Apply the change. You are prompted to modify either the current window or the shortcut that you used to start the command prompt. You can modify the shortcut for future convenience.
At the command prompt, type netstat -an. Scroll back to the beginning of the data output, and look for the following entries.

Proto Local Address Foreign Address State
TCP 0.0.0.0:25 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING
TCP 0.0.0.0:110 0.0.0.0:0 LISTENING

If these entries are present, Exchange Server is listening on ports 110 and 25 on all interfaces. This is typical. If these ports are not available, you may have to troubleshoot the following services or systems more. The following general causes may "hold" these ports, or make them unavailable:

Hope this copies ok

Having to rush a little now.

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kben-usq191687

Additional - plan 2 sanity saver - paste this into Google Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Hopefully about 3rd down will be a microsoft link that looks like:-

191687 - XIMS: Outlook Express POP3, Error 0x800ccc0e, Socket ...

Click on this and it should take you to the right page.

Perhaps Its just me thats not been able to get through to it again for some reason - won't post again until I hear back - by now we should be able to sell tickets for this show

When I click on that Jafo for some reason I just get a front page that says requested page is unavailable and yet it works perfectly from the Google search link. So I've given up and given the route to the Google search page hopefully.
ah...so do I....that's odd...
The word is infuriating - glad its not just me tho. Hopefully if DW follows the Search Google route he'll get there.

You wouldn't believe the ride I've been on with researching this incredimail stuff. My heads spinning with it !

Not sure its Microsoft Certified tho - only one link states that and I'm not convinced. Mind you I'm not sure Outlook Express should be either
Reply #47 Top
yeah for some reason all of those links give me a unavailable page, which is really weird

Well I found it through google, and yes I can folllow instructions... But I'm confused as to where I should open the command prompt in the first place...

I second that, alot of microsoft programs probably shouldn't be
Reply #49 Top
Program > Accessories > Command Prompt

Then it advises to resize the window - just click on the little C in top left corner and you'll see the menu appear, choose properties and resize window as suggested - it won't be a permanent change so don't worry its only to make everything easier to read.

Then just follow instructions and see if those ports are listening.
Eh... I tried but couldn't even find those ports lol, I guess I'll just stick to having it check msn.

Thanks alot journeyman, you've been a big help
