Hidden Pages on WinCustomize?

Hidden Pages on WinCustomize?

Does anyone know why there are not links on WinCustomize to things like CursorXP Plus add ons like trails & special effects? I have seen this page because of a link someone provided, but now I cannot find a link to it anywhere at WC. How many other pages are hidden there? Hmmmm...

One quick thought, maybe things are hidden because the rating is too low? Most people are set to only show themes and stuff rated a 6 or higher.Try lowering your setting and see if you are able to view more options. A shot in the dark but who knows.

I understand what your saying NightTrain, but its a whole category thats not listed, not just certain trails. I was curious as to why they weren't even listed somewhere. But thanks for your input.

The list/library it's not hidden, actually is very viewable. The link that Webgizmo kept referring to was given to him by someone that did the same thing I did.
For future references and for those that want to find things quick, this is what you have to do
As an example let’s take what Webgizmo was asking. If you want to find trails for CursorXP, just click on the CursorXP section, after the page loads, type 'Trail' on the little search window and all the uploaded trail images will show (if they have the word 'trail' in the name)
This can be done with just about anything you want to look for in the libraries

Helpful info Apocalypse, but what I was getting at was this. Someone went to the trouble of creating trails for CursorXP, but I didn't even know they existed on the site until someone provided a link to them. So, what about people that aren't lucky enough to have someone do that? How do they know they even exist on the site without seeing a link to them? And if they don't know they exist, why search for them? Hence my reference to "hidden."

webgizmos.....you've lost me.  The 'trails' to which you refer are just other 'things' within the CursorXP library....not hidden at all...

but...

if you actually use a 'search filter' of any kind you will find what appears to be a 'set' of works within another 'set'.

Try a search in the same Library for 'blue'.....you'll find another 'hidden' group...

Silly Boy. You kept referring to the pages as hidden. When actually they aren't hidden at all. You just have to know how to search for them and the engine to do so is provided here at WC. Don't call me stupid if you don't know how to use a simple search engine.
(The nerve of some people. tsk, tsk)

Actually, I remember there were actual hidden WC pages a while ago. These were old pages from many years ago that were actual Wincustomize Pages. Someone in a thread actually posted a link. It was interesting. Anyone remember that?

It's so nice to see people can come here, ask a simple civilized question, and so many mature and informative responses. It just warms the heart and brings a tear to my eye. What a great bunch a people. WinCustomize should be proud to have you. I'm sure people will flock here to get such good help from you. It's simply amazing at the speed in which my question was answered in such a precise and informative manner, it just boggles the mind.

We were joking around together about the whole scenario, and you pull the wounded eagle switch. Good one, Thanks, for trying to make me look and feel so bad.

Setting aside the message board 'content' of late, it was mostly business...

Hey Annie, if you get a chance send me an e-mail. Between beta testing for Microsoft and Zone Alarm it trashed four of my scsi drives...and more importantly, your mail addy with it.

Sorry Chas...sometimes it's hard to tell. Been to to many discuss groups seeing people getting trashed for petty things. I guess some of these responses just hit on my last nerve. I think it was the "be quiet" comment that did it.

Anyway...I stand corrected...Sorry for making you feel bad...I should be flogged!...hard

Let me rephrase the question another way.

Let's say your new to PC's as well as WC. How do you know what a trail is? There is no obvious link to one, so how would you know to even look for trails to add to your CursorXP apps? I wouldn't have known they even existed had not someone provided a link to them. Do you see what I'm getting at now? I know that you guys understand the whole search thing, but not everyone does.

And as Jafo pointed out. There are sets of works within sets of works. I would not have known that either had he not just pointed that out. Thanks Jafo!

All I wanted was to see what I was missing and maybe "Hidden" pages was not the right word to use. I should be flogged...again.

Wow, web archive works like a charm!

Look what I 'found':

March 13, 2001 - we're here

We're up a lot earlier than we had planned on. With Skinz.org seeming to be gone, we wanted to get something up that users can count on. We are going to try to make WinCustomize.com into a skinning portal that helps users find the other cool skinning websites like DeskMod and Deviant Art and such. But at the same time, we want a website that users can truly count on.

We have a lot of cool features and performance enhancements for the site in the works. We've brought on l0c and Alexandrie to run the site. The site is still kind of "Stardockian" but is moving towards being an independent non-profit site. We're working at hypersonic speeds. We literally started with nothing less than 48 hours ago. If you do a whois check, you'll find that we just registered the domain a couple of days ago and threw this up so you're seeing the results of a site built in less than 48 hours. By the end of next week, we hope to have the discussion boards in, ASP based categories (the links on the left are literally hard coded to a tweaked Stardock skin library), accounts, news submissions, and top 10 downloads.

Amazingly though, UPLOADS are working. So feel free to upload your skins to the various sections. Don't try to use PNG though, even though it says it works, it doesn't.

So this website is only 3 years old? Wow! It make me feel like a young kid again. Maybe things are not so bad after all if three years later things can change for the better!

As far as the search option on Wincusto, I always thought it was pretty weak, but you can find what you need if you have time.

webgizmos, they're known by the tab in CursorXP that states "trail". That's how I found out about them. After seeing that, curiosity took over.
