Restore to a new computer?

Is there a way to backup on my old computer and then restore that backup to my new computer? I'm using Fences v6.

That works only if you're restoring on the same computer that the backup was made on. I've tried copying the backup, xml and png files to another computer, but can't restore from those files.

What actually don't work? The layout? The files don't appear? Please be more specific.

"Fences" doesn't recognize the layout backup (XML & PNG)

Need more details on your old and new system. 

  1. Windows version and OS build number. Use Winver.exe.
  2. Each Monitors information, layout, resolutions etc.
  3. Does setup a new fences work only restoring old layout don't work?
  4. What ""Fences" doesn't recognize the layout backup (XML & PNG)" a popup message? It appear when you try to restore specific saved layout or any saved layout?

  1. Each Monitors information, layout, resolutions etc.

Monitor 1: Viewsonic VP2768 - 4k (3840x2160) - landscape (does contain icons & fences)

Monitor 2: Viewsonic VP2768- 4k (2160x3840) - portrait (no icons or fences)

 

  1. Does setup a new fences work only restoring old layout don't work?

I only need to restore monitor 1

The fences app doesn't recognize the backup files.

Is the monitor layout and orientation on the old system the same as the new one—landscape and vertical included?
