Spotify blue Chrome icon on Taskbar - how to restore Spotify icon?

Somehow my Spotify green icon began appearing as a blue Chrome icon:

I'm not certain what caused this to happen.

The normal green Spotify icon appears when i go back to the stock Windows 11 Taskbar.
Does anyone know how i can restore the green Spotify icon?

I have tried all the suggestions i could find:  uninstalling both Spotify and Start11, i updated to Start11 v2, i reinstalled everything, i cleared my iconcache files.

thank you,  Jon

Does the correct icon appear when pinned to the Start11 menu?

Need your full versions of Windows (use winver.exe) and Start 11 (on the About page).

Yes it does on the Start11 menu:

Windows 11 Pro, version 24H2, build 26100.4946

Start11 v2.53

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Please try, uninstall Start11v2, reboot immediately (important), download latest version (v2.55 beta)  available in your account product download page: https://store.stardock.com/myaccount/products. Install it, reboot immediately again. Retest it and report back.

Hi Basj, I did exactly as you instructed.  No change in behavior.

I have noticed that when Spotify is not running, and i have it pinned to the Start11 Taskbar, the icon is the normal green.  Here is an example:

But then when i start Spotify it goes to the blue icon again.  Somehow it has the wrong icon, is there a way to reset that somehow?

I appreciate the attempts at help!

Jon

The issue goes away if you disable Start11 Enhance taskbar, yes? If so, yes, I can reproduce this issue on my Windows 11 system. I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience. Thank you.

Yes, if i disable the Start11 taskbar, it works fine with the stock Windows 11 taskbar.

It did work fine with Start11 until recently.  Upon further reflection, i believe it may have started when I inadvertently logged into Spotify from a band's website Spotify link.  Even though i already Spotify open at the time.

We have reproduced the issue and should have a fix in the next update.

I suspect the spotify app updated and changed how it exposed its icon, resulting in the default chromium icon to show rather than a custom one.

That's great news!  I will look forward to the fix.  In the meantime i will continue to lose my blue Spotify icon amidst my 20 other icons.  But i can't stop using Start11 taskbar because it lets me resize the taskbar.  Dumb Windows 11!

I too, noticed the same issue. And I just noticed it clearly this morning. With that issue also, it is difficult to find your opened up Spotify app on the taskbar. until you realize that it morphed into a blue Chrome icon.  Glad it has been reproduced, as when opened up, it displays a blue chrome icon, but when closed, it reverts back to the original green icon, as it should.  Before I looked this up, I told myself, no way, not acceptable.  It is like telling us to eat blue chicken, lol.  T'aint 'appening.  Looking forward to this fix.

There is a new beta version of Start11 2.5.5.1 which I believe fixed this issue. You can download it from your Account Downloads page at:
