Mouse stuck on Primary

Installed Multiplicity Version 4.01.  Works as expected until one user signs out and another user signs in.  We are using Seamless mode and the advanced grid for more accurate monitor placement.  When a new user signed in to Windows, the mouse would not move over to the secondary even though we get a connected notification.  The only way to get to the secondary is by using a hot key (which is not seamless) or moving the secondary monitor in the grid from one position to another then back again.  If you move the secondary monitor, seamless connection returns but disappears again when another user signs in.  This does not happen if we are in the standard non-advanced setup however movement from monitor to monitor does not work correctly due to placement.

On the Primary, if you restart the MP services after you switch users

Does it work then?

No, I did try that and all of the troubleshooting tips in the documentation.  The only way I can get seamless connection to return to correct functionality is to move the secondary monitor on the advanced grid then move it back or make a change in the settings on the primary.  The secondary is connected because I can get to it with a hot key but having to hit a hot key over and over or make a change in the setup every time someone else logs in is not ideal.

While I don't doubt your account, that does not make much sense to me - that restarting the MP service does not achieve the same result.

Instead of switching the Windows profile, if you log out \ in on the same profile, does this still happen?  You can likely see what I am testing here, I want to see if this is a particular profile issue or if it can be reproduced across multiple ones.

It can be replicated across different profiles and the same profile.  Let me add that the secondary machine is logged in as a default user and does not get logged out.  The primary is the only machine getting logged in and out of.

Then something else is at play.  I \ we can log out \ in all day and have never seen this issue or had any other such report.

What is equally odd is that signing out of a Primary should not cause any disruption in the ability to interact with any configured Secondary.  I am responding to this post from a Primary PC that is logged out, and my cursor is on the Secondary PC typing it.  I just logged into the same Windows profile on the Primary to finish it on said Secondary.

Are you certain that both the Primary and Secondary are on the exact same (file) version (pictured is the beta, can be had from your account page)?

I used the same installer on both machines but will verify and follow up.  The issue only occurs when we have the advanced grid enabled. I should add that we have used Multiplicity 3 for years on these machines with no issues.  We are making some changes to the monitor layout and upgraded to 4 to have the flexibility.

Looking forward to it.

Not that it should matter but I would like to know if you have any mouse switching rules enabled

Both machines are on the same version 4.0.1.1.  In reference to the mouse rules, I tried with wrap enabled and disabled.  None of the prevent switching rules were ever enabled.

We have just not been able to reproduce it nor have we had any other reports.  We are left to (at least for now) conclude there is a 3rd party app conflict, something a clean boot may help reveal

When you change users, does the screen resolution change?  Or the number of monitors attached, or the OS scaling factor?

It would also be useful to manually save out HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Stardock\Multiplicity2 and subkeys having switched users when it is not working and then again once you have moved the machine on the grid and make it work.

I suspect there will be a difference between the values in those which will give us a clue.

We ran the tests again.  Below are the keys for each test.  The screen resolution, number of monitors, and OS scaling was the same.

How many displays does your primary have?

I also see reference in the registry data to the secondary having had a second monitor at some point?  Is that no longer the case?

I would also be curious if the mouse wraps around grid option is enabled (settings page, control switching based on mouse movement), does it then work on the opposite screen border ok?

We are trying to move the second monitor from the secondary machine to the primary, so essentially the secondary will have 1 monitor and the primary will have 4.  Because the advanced grid option does not work correctly after logging out and back in, the 4th monitor is moved back to the secondary and the standard Multiplicity setting is put back on.

Standard settings - primary has 3 monitors, secondary has 2 monitors

Advanced grid settings - primary would have 4 monitors, secondary would have 1

We originally had Multiplicity 3 on these machines.  That was removed and Multiplicity 4 was installed with the advanced grid monitor set up.  It was later moved to the standard setting after the log off/on issue was identified.

We have tried the mouse wraps around grid option enabled and disabled.  Issue occurs with both settings.  It is currently disabled.
