All icons are gone after upgrading to ver 6

The icons and files are in the my desktop library  (c:/users/user name/desktop…). I can see them if I uninstall Fences, however, disable Fences as you suggested didn't help (still no icons)

Windows 11, Ver 24H2, build: 26100.3476

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

How about using the last snapshots to restore the fences and contents? Did he try that?

Upgraded from 3 to 6.

working well on ver 3 and not working ver 5 or 6 (meaning, I don't see any icons in the fences)

If you do a fresh re-layout, by clicking on Pre-install or First-use backup does any icon appear also, try Perform automatic layout.

The layouts are still saved however the icons don't show on the desktop at all

Please try cleanboot: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot. Do know that Cleanboot need to be done with care. Follow the steps carefully.

Could you send a debug report from the Troubleshooting link in the About tab of the config? You'll see a link "Create error report package for technical support"

Hi Hagai, the development team was able to load up the configuration you sent and we're not seeing anything pop out as problematic. All of the groups appear to load fine, and there aren't any settings enabled that would make icons hide. In fact the Recycle Bin item showed fine for the team in the purple group you have titled there as "prog"

One thing we might recommend trying would be to temporarilly disable Fences by scrolling to the bottom of the Welcome dialog and unchecking "Enable Fences", seeing if that makes a difference

Similar, disabling "Quickhide" and "pages"

Realistically we wouldn't expect those to make a difference – but they're steps to check.

A last one might be to delete your existing Fences to ensure nothing is hiding behind.

Or similarly, going to the Layout tab, clicking "Save / Restore a Backup", and then "Perform automatic layout" from the area that appears.

We've not seen this, and are not seeing issues in your settings either, so am curious of what's going on on your system.

All of the above didn't work. what's the next idea?

Hi,

I followed the steps as you suggested. Right after the installation all seemed to be OK for a minute but then I was asked to reboot and as before all icons were gone (as I wrote, all the of the files are still there bzut didn't show up).

Attached is a screenshot after the installation and the rebooting of the system.

I upgraded from ver 3 to 6 maybe I should do it incrementally?

Have you tried the cleanboot steps I suggested in my reply#18?
