Objectdock freezes

the dock does not open

Hi, I have Objectdock version 3.01 and since I updated it I have the problem that when I put the mouse over the docks, the dock does not open until after about 20 seconds. It is very annoying to have to wait so long. Please someone tell me what I should do to fix it, because I am sure you already have the solution. Thanks

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know your Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe to get those number.

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

It should not, but, to be sure, you could save your setting using this button.

I have followed the instructions to the letter but it is still the same, here is a video where you can see that it takes up to 19 seconds to react https://www.dropbox.com/t/pnUvhG6xkbc2TaQ0

I wonder if there is something in your setting causing the issue. Is the setting carried over from older version of ObjectDock?

Yes, could that be it? I have been using this app for several years and this problem came when I did the last update

What you can do is, back up your setting. And than do the Reset setting and Reset dock contents, refer to my previous screenshot above. Reboot, and retest under fresh ObjectDock setting. And, if the freeze issue disappear. Start adding back content. Do know, some of ObjectDock function in v2, no longer supported in v3. It was removed to make sure ODv3 is compatible with Windows 11.

Let try this.

  1. Open up OD Setting. Click on "Settings" Tab.
  2. While in Setting tab. Click on "Troubleshooting options"
  3. While in OD Troubleshooting Windows click on "Open my ObjectDock settings folder...."
  4. Copy all files in that folder to a safe location.
  5. Once that is done and all files is safe else where.
  6. Back to OD Troubleshooting Windows, click on "Reset ObjectDock's general program settings" button. A warning will popup. Click Yes. Wait a while, might need to restart ObjectDock.
  7. After ObjectDock opened. Check if the freezes still occur. If it still occur, please continue to the next step.
  8. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 while in OD Troubleshooting options. Click on "Reset the contents of my docks", a warning will popup. Click Yes. if you wish to continue.
  9. Wait a while, restart ObjectDock and retest the freezes issue. Report back.

Note, if the freezes resolved that show your saved setting is causing the issue.
