Tab Title Width

Would it be possible in a future update to make the tabs automatically adjust their width to show all text rather than just the first few letters? For example, if you have a tab named 'Multimedia Apps' and a second named 'Multimedia Videos', these both show as 'Multimedia ...'. I have previously deleted one, thinking I had duplicated it. I understand there has to be limits on the width of the start menu. I think it would be great if tabs automatically sized their title width depending on the of the title text entered but limited to the width of the start menu itself, in mycase with two tabs there is atleast one third of tab space left.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more details on your issue.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Start11 full version number.
  3. Post screenshot of your issue so we understand it better.

I appreciate your fast reply. I am using WIndows 11 Pro Version 24H2 the 2.51 version of Start11. I was making a sugesstion rather than reportng an issue. The software is working fine as I explained in my original post it would be nice the tabs where the title text of the tab itself

The Area marked in red as you can see from the image above very difficult to distinguish a difference between the two Tabs even though one says Multimeda App's The Other is Muitmedia Files however as you see there is still space available for the Tab-Title & Text therein to be expanded. This happens if you have a lot of Groups with 2 or 3 Tabs in them. I use a lot of software so grouping in this manner is much more efficent for me personally. However when glancing at the title it is easy to get confused especially when concentraing on the task in hand.

There is also one other thing that has just come to mind, the group withs at the moment you can select from 6, 8 , 10, 12, 14 & 16. To add a little more cusomization would it also be possible to start from a width of 5, add 7, 11 & 15. Just adds a little more customization. My personal preference would be a width 5, 7, or 11. again this is a suggestion.

Again I would like to say this is a suggestion, that if it is possible I know there are always constraints, could be made in some further update.

I am more than pleased with your excelllent software. Your customer service from my experience is and has always been excellt also.

Please try this setting to increase your Group widths so there is enough space to add more text on the tab

Hi I had just updated my previous reply-post just as your answer appeared.

The suggestion you made works fine.

 

Other suggestion I made was as follows.

The group widths at the moment you can select from 6, 8 , 10, 12, 14 & 16. To add a little more cusomization would it also be possible to start from a width of 5, add 7, 11 & 15. Just adds a little more customization for the users comfort. There are users that have hand, wrist or arm movement restrictions and the extra width to move the mouse can be painful. Speed up the mouse does not always workd either has some users may have dexterity or movement control issues. 

Again these are my personal thoughts and just a suggestion, that would make your software more accessable to a wider group of users.

I have forwarded your request to the Stardock Support Team for their review and recommendations. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We really do appreciate your feedback. Do know if you try Windows 11, Windows app, Windows Pro or Windows Launcher style, with these style, the start panel can be resize by just click and drag, which should also adjust you tabs length easily. This is not possible in Windows 10 style. Not sure why, might be this is how default Start panel behavior in Windows 10.

There is always space reserved on the right end for being able to drag the tab bar and filter etc icons.
