More options for Windows 10 style menu

as it doesn't quite reflect behavior of original Win10 menu

For some reason in Windows 10 style we can't have scrollable tiles section, instead there's only a page view similar to Windows 11. While I'm not against having extra pages, I'd like to define on my own where each ends, instead of just size of whole menu being a limit. Originally in Windows 10 start menu we can scroll tiles as deep as needed, this behavior is one of the things I was looking for beside using tiles instead of icons.

I wouldn't mid also having options for pages, but this is where another issue pops up: currently the touch interaction works as expected when swiping the app list, but not when interacting with tiles. with trackpad I can change pages with two finger swipe motion, but with touchscreen that doesn't work. Generally it's too easy to misplace tiles with touch if you start dragging anywhere over tiles. In Windows 10 you have to tap and hold on the tile to start editing it's position and size, I'd like to have that same exact behavior. This would also help with ability to swipe up/down on the long tile list without misplacing anything.

Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing as the Start11 Win10 style menu should be basically the same as the Microsoft one.

This sounds like a good idea. Even on the PC with a mouse, moving tiles usually tries to group with the adjacent tile if you're not careful. As a workaround for now, you could lock the tile positions.

yes, I know about locking, but still I'd prefer Windows 10 behavior

Screenshot wouldn't be sufficient to demonstrate it, I'll record a gif or video when I get to my Windows 10 PC

Ok, I just realized that you actually can have scrollable tiles, I just needed to expand start menu vertically so I could have space to drag new stuff, and then shrink it back so now it has scrollbar and can be scrolled with touch (which also makes tiles less prone to accidental drag, as immediate vertical motions aren't treated as drag'n'drop), but still I think tile editing should be implemented with tap/click and hold, before you can drag them around. You wouldn't do this too often for this to be annoying, on the other hand ability to accidentally move stuff is annoying.

Now I'd still like to be able to swipe horizontally to switch pages with touch input 🙏 and perhaps have option for displaying page selector at the top or bottom or not show it at all, or show and fade away only when switching pages or hovering with mouse on either top or bottom area.
