Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

Windows 11 version 24H2 (OS Build 26100.3037)

Home Version

Fences 5.86

I apologize.  I had an issue written here that turned out to be a setting.  "Lock Fences".  I never set that and didn't know it existed until now.  Everything working fine.

Hello

I didn't find a way to equally space rolled-up fences. See image. Any help?

Thanks

Hi brunolos, I can confirm this is a shortcoming with the current snapping — it does not seem to do the proper spacing around rolled up fences to easily space, when coming in from below a rolled up fence.

We’ve added this to the dev list so that it gets resolved in a future update. Thank you for the report 🙏

Windows 11 (23H2)

Fences: 5.86

I have a multimonitor setup, whith my Fences on the second monitor. Yet if my system goes to sleep and both monitors are in standby mode and than wake-up. Fences restores all to the first monitor.

The issues seems that my secondary "fences" monitor wakes a bit slower than my first, so fences seems to only see the first one and converts the layout. Yet when my second comes "online", why does fences not realize this error?

So basically i can't use "fast" sleep windows mode and every time have to restore the layout manually from the saved backups.

We are also talking about a 1-2s extra delay not more, so why no wait a bit longer before fences decide to convert/restore to a different resolution + monitor, comming out of sleep. So add a extra check to make sure its not just a minor standby wake-up delay.

PS: This was always a issue and even worse in Fences 4, where i needed full reboot, since fences 4 was not even able to correctly restore a backup.

I already did this and use the per monitor setting and also have setup's stored. As noted if i do a full boot all is fine and gets restored correctly, also manual restore from a backup works. Its just that if windows enters sleep and than wakes, Fences restores to the wrong monitor.

This is a really annoying, since i either cant use normal windows sleep-mode or have to manually restore after each sleep/wake cycle.

Hi Andy2222- we'd love to take a closer look. Could you turn on advanced logging, reproduce the issue, then upload to us an error report?

Steps:

1) Go to "About" tab, click Troubleshooting. Click the menu item "Enabled advanced logging"

2) Optional- install the latest version (v5.88 Rev 8) at https://cdn.stardock.us/downloads/public/software/fences/v5/Fences5_5.8.8.8-j179-Setup.exe

3) Reboot

4) Reproduce the issue

5) Right after reproducing, return to this dialog and select "Create error report package", then follow the instructions to upload your report. Hopefully something in there gives us a hint. Thank you!

Hi support, i installed latest 5.88 rev8 and so far i could not reproduce the issue. I also double checked and i actually had "windows sleep" disabled, so it was just related to the monitor standby feature.

I will report back if i manage to reproduce it again, thanks.
