Fences 5.80 - 5.81 / Fences layout is lost after reboot

So because I have an issue with 5.80, I was told to try 5.81 Beta, but unfortunately, I am still experiencing the same problem : after a reboot, the configuration is lost, and restoring a backup has no effect, and yes multi-monitor is activated.

It was working flawlessly before the update from Fences 4.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Moving forward need to know which if there steps you have tried?

  1. Purge and reinstalled.
  2. Cleanboot.

Need to know since I am not sure if you already tried these steps.

Thank you.

That show you have not done any of it yet, great, moving forward. First, please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

I have performed everything as described, and unfortunately, same issue, the configuration is lost after a reboot, and restore is not working.

Next, please try cleanboot: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#cleanboot. Try that and report back.

BTW,  I need to check, you already done the troubleshooting guide as mentioned in the first post of this thread https://forums.stardock.com/528229 , yes? specifically to set your layout auto-adjustments to "Store my layout on a per-monitor-configuration basis".

Thank you,

Unfortunately I cannot perform what you have requested, it is a professional laptop and I there are policies that forbid me to do what you request. I imagine that my only possibility now is to roll back to V4, I had no issue on that version.

The jist of a clean boot is to see if another start up program is interfering with Fences 5. Perhaps, under taskmanager > startup you could see if there are any programs you could disable at startup temporarily?

Another thing I might want to try out if I were in your position is unplugging one monitor and trying a reboot that why. Just as a way to see if multi monitor is your issue or if it is Fences 5 itself on your system.

It is strange that Fences 4 works but Fences 5 doesn't. I suppose worst case scenario you roll back for a while and then trial a new version of Fences to see if the kinks are out yet

I think I have solved the problem, it looks like that when you install v5, V4 is not properly uninstalled. I had to uninstall V5, V4 and use the purge twice in raw, and then reinstall V5, and now V5 can keep the layout after a reboot.
