Fences 5.59 Beta Feedback Thread

With the Fences 5.59 (was 5.56 and 5.58) beta release today, we are creating this thread so that users can report any observed issues.  

Obtaining Object Desktop Insider Builds

Object Desktop Manager

Object Desktop members can get beta and Insider builds from within Object Desktop Manager with 'Enable Object Desktop Insider builds' enabled:

Obtaining Beta Releases

Stardock.com

If a beta was released, Object Desktop Members would see it in the ‘Object Desktop’ section.

Individual purchases would see it on their registration of the product under their download page.

Steam

  • Right-click the Product in Steam

  • Properties

  • Betas

  • Select the beta branch at the top right (there is no password)

Reporting an issue

Please include the following for anything found:

  • Exact Windows version \ build (winver.exe)

  • Detailed steps to recreate the issue seen

  • Screenshots and videos are very helpful.  Videos can be uploaded to a cloud drive service (GoogleDrive, DropBox, OneDrive, YouTube), with a shared link included in your post.  Images can be copied and pasted directly into a post.

  • If there are specific apps that the app does not work (well) with, please note what apps and their exact versions.  If any app is not common, a link to a trial version would be appreciated.

Known issues

While we appreciate all feedback, please remember that we offer no official support for beta \ preview \ developer channel versions of Windows. If you report issues while in any of those early release channels, you should not expect them to be addressed unless it still exists in a retail version of Windows.

With Version 5.5.6 I have the problem, that the scrollwhell of my mouse have reversed setting. Can I set the direction of the scrollwhell of my mouse in Fences? All other apps have the right direction only Fences is now reversed. Version 5.5.4 have the right direction too.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system.

  1. Windows full version and build numbers. Use Winver.exe
  2. Mouse brand and model number. Does it come with it own custom mouse software.
  3. Scroll wheel reverse effect on both Normal Fences and Portal Fences?
  4. Any other details, does the issue resolve itself if you restart Explorer.exe? (How to restart Explorer.exe)

I use Windows 11 PRO Retail 23H2 (22631.3810)

Mouse: Logitech Pro X Superlight with Logitech Hub-Software

I use Fences only on normal Fences

The Reverseeffect is only with Version 5.5.6. So I uninstalled this Version and install Version 5.5.4, because this Version and before hasn't this effect.

OS Build: Windows 11 pro 22631.3810

The feature "switch pages by pulling edge of screen with mouse" no longer works when scrolling right. It does appear to still work when scrolling left.

Specifically, when holding the left mouse button down on the right hand of the screen to pull off to the next page, it no longer works. It is working on the left hand side but not on the right hand side.

I have tried reinstalling and am still having the issue. When I revert back to build 5.54 everything works as expected.

From my experience, the click and drag, only work if press both left and right mouse than drag, nothing while pressing mouse and scrolling the mouse wheel. Please point me to the instruction that say it can be done that way, so I can refer back to Support.

Added note: I also discover left click at the very edge of the screen and drag across also work on switching page. But, not scroll Wheel.

Okay I tested on Windows 11 and it look like it also don't work for me. The right side screed edge click and drag don't work. I have forwarded your problem/question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Update: Dev has came back and mentioned this issue should be resolved on v5.57, release soon. And convey his appreciation on your feedback.
