Start 11v2 Taskbar Not Updating

Team,

I'm running both Start 11v2 and Window Blinds on my Windows 11 install. The task bar is not updating properly. For example it's showing icons for several programs I've closed as well as the clock showing yesterdays time. It works after a fresh reboot but over time will stop updating/refreshing/animating properly. I'm suspecting there might be an incompatibility issue with the X-Box Game Bar as it seems to happen either during or right after playing a game that has that feature. Is this a known issue? Is there a setting somewhere I need to adjust to correct this?

Thanks

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do you have your system running for days without reboot? Also, if you restart Explorer.exe does the issues goes away?

How to restart explorer.exe : https://www.howtogeek.com/198815/use-this-secret-trick-to-close-and-restart-explorerexe-in-windows/

Thank you.

Yes, I sleep my computer when not in use and only reboot when necessary. Restarting the shell (Explorer) does resolve the problem. I don't feel like restarting the shell is something I should have to do daily if everything else is working correctly.

Actually, it is simple thing to do, just make a batch file and put it on your desktop. Or pin it to your taskbar. Click on it when ever needed.

The code will be this

taskkill /f /im explorer.exe
start explorer.exe
exit

Just curious. Does this happen with all WB11 themes, or just a particular one?

I didn't think the taskbar was controlled by Blinds. I'm running the Echo style which I believe is a built in one, not a 3rd party package.

Yes, WB11 does control the taskbar. Try a different theme, and see if causes the issue.

Also, what version of Windows 11 are you running (winver.exe)? And what version of Window Blinds are you running?

If you wish to look deeper, I would suggest to look into which of these two software, WB or Start11 that might creating the issue. Try disable one of those and run for few days without it and work from there.

It seems like this was an issue with a version of Start11v2 at some point. I can't remember which, or if it was caused by a conflict.

Yes, also, skippman, please share with us these information:

  1. Windows 11 full version/build number. Use Winver.exe
  2. Start11 full version number.
  3. Windowblinds version number.

Just to make sure, are you running any 3rd party software which controls the taskbar, like Explorer Patcher or StartAllBack?

Please do the testing on which of the product is causing your issue, and we could start from there. I suspect it more on Start11 but I can not 100% sure until we vet it out. And, yes, we also need to know if you have any other 3rd party software that change explorer/taskbar work.

I've had the same issue with the taskbar not updating for a few months now.

Windows 11 22631.3672. No other software modifying the taskbar. Start11 v. 2.08

Also Start11 version 1 did not have this problem, if memory serves.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do you also let your system run for days without rebooting too?

Thank you.

No, I turn off the computer every day.

Please try, uninstall Start11v2, reboot immediately after, re-download the latest version from your account page. Install it. reboot again immediately after installation done. Retest and report back.
