Task Switcher (Alt+Tab)

Hi,

I've had to switch from Win7 to Win10, unfortunately. Now I'm working on making "it" look as much as my beloved Win7 as possible.

I would like to exchange the unsightly and confusing task switcher (alt+tab) of Windows 10 against the one from Windows 7. Alt plus Tab helped a little, but not all that much. The task switcher seems uncontrollable in Win10.

I don't want these big, bulky thumnails of all different and dynamic size and no space between them anymore. All I see is pixel salad! I want them all nice and same size at all times, no matter how many, pretty and benign, preferably adjustable in size and distance, just like it used to be in Windows 7.

Now I've been looking at 3rd party software such as Alt-Tab Terminator, which is allegedly the best of the bunch, but that's even more confounding, since I can see only ever one of the programs, not all of them, and a list of nondescript icons to choose from.

Question: Is there a way to do the Win7 task switcher in Stardock software somehow?

Best,

Mubuk

P.S.: No opinions, please, I got those covered. Ideas and solutions only.

Hello,
From what I know there is no Stardock Software that capable of changing "Alt-tab" task switcher app selection popup.

Thank you.

Sounds like you are describing the Flip 3d feature of Windows 7. There is a freelance version online called Win Flip, but it only works on Win XP. I hear that there is a version of Flip 3d for windows 10 in the Microsoft Store, but I am dubious. Might be worth a look. Your Call.

No, it's not about the 3D flip, just plain vanilla Win7 task switcher. Here is how far I got in doing this by Registry. In case anyone is interested, this really helps to at least tame it a bit:

-- snip (could have sworn this editor had code tags last time) --

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MultitaskingView\AltTabViewhost]
"Grid_leftmargin"=dword:00000010
"Grid_rightmargin"=dword:00000010
"Grid_topmargin"=dword:00000010
"Grid_bottommargin"=dword:0000010
"Grid_adjacentspacing"=dword:0000028
"Grid_rowspacing"=dword:00000028
"Thumbnail_min_width"=dword:00000032
"Thumbnail_min_height_percent"=dword:00000012
"Thumbnail_max_height_percent"=dword:00000012
"Thumbnail_icon_size"=dword:00000020
"Thumbnail_max_aspectratio"=dword:00000064
-- snip --

What it does is make the icons smaller and consistent in size, width and height, defines a distance between them. Additionally, I changed the background a bit with Alt Plus Tab. Not as beautiful, but it works a lot better than before.

Best
