We have been able to reproduce this and have a fix in the works.
It will be put out as a matter of urgency. When Groupy prompts for an update and you install it you should find it is working correctly again.
Please accept my apologies for this bug. When the software detects it isn't validly signed it takes you to the Groupy update webpage (which is the same in v1 and v2) and it wasn't noticed that the Stardock digital cert changed between Groupy 1 and now so it isn't being seen as valid.

You do not need to upgrade to v2, your v1 should continue (and will once you get the fixed update) to work if you are not interested in the new features v2 offers.
