Is there one of those effects avail here where when you have multiple windows open and you hit f10 (i think) it will split all the windows up so you can see everything that is open in a smaller size then you click on one window and it maximizes? Macs have this functionality on the OS X version. Now, please don't flame me and say, "if that's what you want, buy a mac"....I have seen different features here that invoves the tornado effect when a window minimizes...yet another panther effect.

I promise, I'm not being rude about the flaming comment. I have seen some nasty comments in the past b/c people like mac features and this is a "Windows" customizing place. Please be nice to me. I'm fragile

the difference in functionality is based on the code. apple is macros.. with macros you can take a bunch of existing objects and toy with the appearance and location (in Expose's case, the size and tiling).. when you do this in windows, its going through a different transformation.. i think a loss in smoothness is going to happen regardless. but i don't see it taking an enourmous amount of resources, either. i'm going to try some of these out, i think expose is a great feature especially when you are switching between many windows constantly, and are use to using quick keys.

eer a point i forgot to ad in all that now useless information- object desktop seems to give windows the same functionality as apple's macro based world. i was curious to see if anyone had developed an expose plug in desktopx style. ?

Chris,

That immediately marks you as a "Windows Zealot" in most people's eyes... Besides that it strikes me as immature for something so trivial to 'annoy you'.It's only software - get over it

Surely you have been annoyed at something in the past that others might consider "trivial". Does that make you immature? I don't think so. The dictionary defines "annoy", at least in part, as a "slight disturbance". Questioning somebody's ability to handle life issues based on their mild reaction to a situation is a bit over the top. And as for your "it's just software" comment, I'll bet I can find at least 3 issues in _your_ life that are, by my standards, trivial enough to warrant a "get over it" response.

I happen to agree with Tech Cat; the overuse of "windoze" is annoying. Nothing more, nothing less. Annoying.

at aquasoft there is a guy named siwu who has made an expose clone that works better then winexpose and uses less memory. I have a p4 2.4 ghz with 512 megs ram and it runs perfectly on it.

Only my kids behaviour sometimes but then that's not trivial to me...

I think I'm over all of them, but feel free to try me...

Sorry, but I wouldn't call someone saying 'Windoze' a life issue... would you?

I thought it quite funny when I first saw it - nothing more, nothing less . FWIW I use nothing but Windows at home & at work.

Th reason that the current versions of Windows will never make those smooth windows effects as nice is that the Mac OS X is vertor based, while Windows is still raster (bitmaps).  I heared that Longhorn will be vector as well, so only then will these neat effects be as nice and as smooth.

BTW: I find the Alt-Tab alternative that comes with Wndows XP Power Toys to be IMO just as good an alternative than exposé. Maybe not as cool, but just as usefull.
