Icons for programs in Tabbed Dock changed "behind my back". Why?

I added the LibreOffice programs 'calc' and 'writer' to my Tabbed Dock, which correctly picked up the embedded icons and displayed them. A bit later, I added files created with these programs which I regularly access. I gave these files their own icons (that I made). Shortly after that I noticed that ObjectDock had given the 'calc' and 'writer' programs the same icons. I used 'change this icon / shortcut... to change them back and so far all the icons have stayed what I want them to be.

My opinion is that ObjectDock should not change any icons "behind my back" - only if I specifically request this. Therefore, I regard this behavior as a bug, but concede it might be as designed behavior. If the former, could someone look into it? If the latter, can the behavior be turned off somehow?

Thanks.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. How did you changed your icon on the dock?

Thank you.

Right clicked on it, chose 'Change this icon / shortcut...' from the context menu, clicked the 'Change Icon' button and chose a new icon. The icon was actually a PNG file, as the tabbed dock does not appear to support Windows ICO files. I chose PNG because I wanted a picture that supported transparency; as far as I can tell JPG does not. My pictures could be anywhere from 200 x 200 to 500 x 500, depends on how detailed they are, and where I got them or how I made them.

PNG should be fine. So you were having 4 different icons/pngs for 4 different app/documents, yes? 2 for Libre writer and calc app and another 2 for its files. And The App icons change to the Doc icons? Is the behavior easily reproduce? If you restart system does the icons revert back to the correct icons you set. If not what happened when it changed itself? It happen after your restart the system? Any thing so that I can try to reproduce it on my system, would help us understand the issue better.

Thank you,

The icons on the documents created with these programs appear to be stable; that is, they have not changed. The icon on 'writer.exe' changed again, to the same one I assigned to one of the documents I created with writer. I don't know precisely when it happened as the tabbed dock is hidden except when I mouse over it. I will try to pay attention to when this happens and see if I can figure that out. If I do, I will post a follow-up.

I actually have more than four icons for more than four files. There are the two programs, writer.exe and calc.exe, which (like most Windows programs) have icons built in. And there are the icons I have assigned to a number of files I regularly use; they were created as visual cues to help me find those files quickly.

When the icon changes, if I click 'Change this Icon / Shortcut' on the program, I then see the 'Dock Icon Properties' dialog with the incorrect icon shown in the lowest part of that (below a horizontal line). If I click the 'Change Icon' button to the right of the icon, the icon switches back to the one embedded in the program without me doing anything. I then close everything and the correct icon is displayed in the tabbed dock. So far this has happened once to 'calc.exe' and twice to 'writer.exe'. I have not tried the 'Reset Icon' button.
