loading wrong snapshot.

My snapshot went back in time. So I restore it and about 2 seconds later it restores itself back in time.

I thought I should add the snapshot is so old it is not in my list of snapshots, but then who cares.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more details.

  1. Windows full version number. Use Winver.exe
  2. Fences version number.
  3. Post a video where Fences restore the snapshot back to old snapshot by itself.

Thank you.

Hello,

The first time this happened, I restored my PC to fix it. However, it is back but a touch different.

Version 23H2 (OS Build 22631.3296)

Fences Version 5.05

If you rearrange the Fences manually, save a new snapshot. Does the Fences revert back by itself?

Yes that is what is happening. What seems to happen is I make a few little changes, and all is well.

It happens when I make a lot of changes. After I finish, I create a snapshot, which changes to an unsaved time period at a point in time during my edits.

I have deleted all snapshots and only have the one I created, and it happens. A reboot fixes it back to the set snapshot until some random time triggers it. Sometimes, it is after waking from sleep, and other times, I can't say.

That is strange. Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Also, before purge, delete off all saved screenshots

Snapshots are stored in the following directories:

  • 7/8/10/11: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Stardock\Fences\Backups

  • You will need to replace USERNAME with your user account name on your PC.

This is another thing that happens. Some of the fences resize and others don't. The title font is reduced and the spacing of the icons is cramped. This is corrected by snapshot and is random. However, I think this has to do with the fact I have 2 monitors and Windows loads them at different times or sees them as different, or something like that. I would upload photo but I don't see how.

There is a new Fences 5.5 Beta out. Please try this version. Should be available at your account product download page.
