Photo Frame DX?

My first post didn't seem to go through, but if it does eventually, I apologize for the double post......

Anyway, I have some space on my desktop that is crying for a DX photo. In other words, is there a way to put a frame on the desktop that would enable the import of any image that someone may want, like of a grandchild, my case Also, maybe a choice of frames, or the ability to resize them, or whatever. Any thoughts? Anyone want to take up the task? I just don't know how, though if it's possible, the graphics would be a piece of cake.

I dunno. It seems like it's what I want. But, with DX2, you can't right click and get properties of an object anymore. It just right clicks through to the desktop properties. I tried listing the objects, but that didn't help. I just don't know enough about DX scripts. Suggestions, pleeeeeease.

Maybe once I figure this out, I can add my own frames to it. That would be very cool. One step at a time.......

You can say that again...

dabe, if you follow the direction in the text file to the letter, it should work no problem. You can indeed right click to get the properties, just make sure you're in edit mode, not in user mode.

Dabe, someone made a WP a short time ago, that had instructions for inserting your own pic into the "frame" it was really classy looking too. I know it was a christmas themed WP , but if the ability is there, one could create one's own frame using the same procedure. https://www.wincustomize.com/skins.asp?library=8&SkinID=14199

hope the idea helps.

It would cool if someone could come up with one that you could point to a folder to display images there...

digitalchet,
you mean like a DX object about a quarter inch larger than a thumbnail, that could display a slideshow if hovered over by the mouse?... if so that would indeed be cool

Not sure DX could do that DigitalCHET.
Anyhoo Dabe, as I said, the object I made works really well and is easy enough to set up if you follow the directions. You can have as man pictures as you want and you can set the delay timer to what you want. Should work fine.

I think he means that DX would automatically import all the pictures in a given directory and cycle though them as a slideshow.
Don't think it's possible, but you never know. Mabe somebody way more knowledgable than me at scripting.

paxx,
if you have a slideshow db on your hard drive, connected with some photoimaging software or another, could you make a copy of that show and paste it onto a dx object? the coding would already be there to make it run, if you have the program installed, you'd just have to find a way to reduce the size of the images to fit the area you assign it.... or am I tilting at windmills again...??

OK, I got it. What I needed to do, and only figured out this morning, is that I have to right click on the object in the list, not the object on my desktop. DOH!! Tonight, I'll resize some images, and give it a test run. Right now, I have to get ready for work. I'll post some images when I get it figured out. As I said, one step at a time......

Well i only thought that it would be cool for the longhorn sidebar. The original sidebar has something like that, thought it might be cool.

I did it!! I did it!!! I DID IT!!!

Thank you so much, Paxx. Click on my profile and check out my desktop (I seem to be incapable of posting the images within the discussion pages ). I created a blue frame for all ten images. They are cycling through right now. I LOVE this.

BTW, that's a photo I took of my grandson about one year ago. I'm a proud grandma.

Diane (dabe), Way to go!

BTW to post the thumbnail of your desktop to this message board, just enter [ i m g ] URL [ / i m g ] without any spaces. So for your desktop, it would look like:
[ i m g ] h t t p : //skins2.wincustomize.com/dabe/tdesktop.jpg[ / i m g ] , again without the spaces. You can see the result below:

Thanks, Rocky. I'll write down this imaging posting thing, so I'll get it. I, for the life of me, don't understand why I've had such problems posting my desktop. Sheesh....... I spend most of my days at work on a computer, doing GIS mapping. So, it's not like I don't know computers. I just have this mental block......

Anyway, sure wish you could see this photo thing cycling through. I made the frame identical for all ten images. So, even though the frame is actually part of each image itself, as it cycles through it looks like only the image is changing within a stationary frame. Very nice......
