Lost connection

Multiplicity 3.6 Build 00105

I just got my computer (Primary) back after a crash. Now the link to my secondary does not function. I have checked the firewall settings for Multiplicity and it is "Private".

Can you advise?

There was a lot of information on your link, however, I decided to follow the quick start instructions and deleted Multiplicity from my two computers. I downloaded new software (3.6) and reinstalled the app. I started with the secondary and then the primary. This resulted again in a suggestion that my firewall was set to public, however, as shown bellow this was not the case.

As you can see from the above the primary is suggesting my LAPTOP has an IP adress ending 108, however this should be 104!!

I turned off my firewalls and rebooted but this did not help. Have you any suggestions.

Hello,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

Is either of your PCs connected to a VPN at the time you are setting up MP?  If so, kill that connection for it.

Also, if you are certain of the IP of the Secondary, type that in instead of selecting the hostname, example:

This is the image of my primary after reinstalling the latest version of Multiplicity. You will note that the lefthand panel does not include the button KVM. I am certain about my ip-adresses:

Primary: 192.168.1.201

Secondary: 192.168.1.104

If I select "Add a computer" on the primary I don't get the options shown on your screen listing your secondaries. Instead, I get the settings for my Laptop and a new ipadress ending ...108 which is unknown to me. Also there is a conflict with the passcode which shows "noelbcbq" on the secondary and "gqxmdnss" on the primary. Openning Multiplicity on the Secondary sents a message indicating the my network has been set to public, however, I have checked this on both computers and it is set to private as shown in the snipped above. I have other programs which communcate over my local network without problem.

Most grateful if you can solve this impass. I miss the functionality of a working installation of Multiplicity.

I have just changed the passcode on the secondary to match the primary but this did not help. When I chose "Add computer" on the primary and us the ipadress for the secondary I still get the error indicating that my network is set to public - as far as I can see it is not - see snipped above.

The firewall being set to Private correctly is not what MP is complaining about, it is the connection itself
