Cannot drag and drop into a portal

Hi all!  I've been using Fences for a while and I love it.

I have an issue that popped up recently.  It seems as if I can't drag and drop files into a portal anymore.  It will work if I open the actual location with the "Open Folder" option in the portal. I used to love this because I could drag anything into my sorted folders directly from downloads.

Dragging and dropping into regular Fences still works; the only issue I have is with the portals.  A recreation of the portal seems to have the same effect.  I'm able to navigate the portals without an issue.

  • I'm able to pull a file from the portal into a fence, the file will transfer.
  • I can't drag anything into an active portal.  I can only seem to do it via Open Folder.

Hiya!

  1. Windows 7,8,10 or 11? Also its full version numbers. Use Winver.exe.
    Windows 10 Version 22HS (OS Build 19045.3448).

  2. Fences version.
    Fences 4.2.1.

  3. What error popup when you drag files or folder from Explorer.exe to Portal Fence?
No error popups.  Just a loss of functionality that used to be available previously.
Dragging files from Explorer to a Portal Fence has no effect.  The file remains in the previous location with no transfer taking place.
Dragging files from Explorer to a regular Fence works normally and you'll see the transfer from one to the other.

  4. This issue happen on any Portal Fence or only specific Portal Fence.
This occurs on all Portal Fences.  I've had to right-click the Portal and "Open Folder" in order to drag into the portal's location while I attempt to figure out what has changed.

    Regular Fences will work normally.

I can not reproduce your issue on my system. I can drag a file from Windows File explorer to Portal Fence. It might be something else blocking that function on your system. Please check if there is any new security setting applied to your system recently. Report back.

As reference I am also on Windows 10 22H2 (OS Build 19045.3448) and Fences 4.21. I am using Windows security with default setting.

Thank you,
